Q: 2006 Audi A3 2.0T or 2005/06 Volvo S40 T5?
I love both these cars and I am having a hard time deciding which would be better and more reliable. With the Audi I have heard good and bad, but with the Volvo I haven't heard too much bad. Any help would be appreciated.

A: Well the cars themselves are pretty different. The A3 is a hatchback, while the S40 is a small sedan. The A3 is less powerful by about 27 horsepower and 29 ft/lbs of torque, but it also weighs almost 1000 lbs less than the T5. The T5 beats the A3 in the 0-60 by about half a second, or a little over 2 car lengths by the finish line (though neither are really racing type cars). Due to the A3's smaller engine and weight, it gets better gas mileage 22 City / 29 highway versus 20 city / 28 highway on the T5. The A3 will probably offer you more room, not only for passengers, but for luggage as well, despite it's small size, just by the virtue of being a hatchback. The T5 will probably provide slightly better performance (though neither are on par with BMW performance), and more safety (Volvo is renown for safety). Also the A3 will be a little more pretentious, while Volvo in general isn't as "snobby" of a brand, though it's stupid to buy or not buy a car based on stereotypes of car brands like that. The T5 costs more than the A3, but in my opinion is nicer looking, more powerful, is from a brand known for safety, and a little more refined. The A3 offers more space, is a good value, has a nicer interior, and drives very nicely. I know Volvo reliability is great, but Audi's isn't bad either. It's up to you! I'd go with the Volvo because I'm not really a hatchback person and I like more powerful cars, plus I know the Volvo has great safety features. Though I do feel like for over $3k less, the Audi is a better value.

Q: My 2006 Audi A3 has a "check minimum oil" warning and what sounds like a lifter tick?
I don't want to call the dealership and sound like an idiot. Does my A3 have lifters to tick? It ticks when I'm idling, but when I rev the engine, it goes away. I can't figure it out. (it's the 2.0 turbo w/ manual) Also, the minimum oil light is on, for the second time. They said it was a bad sensor before, and it quit for a while. What should I say to them at the dealer?

A: Just take the car in about the low oil level light. They won't think less of you for it.

Q: how do you get extra performance out of a 2006 audi a3 2.0T with dsg?

A: You should check the Car section

Q: Does anybody recommend a 2006 Audi A3 2.0T?

A: Audi is great, but sadly I am not sure they are quite the car they used to be. They seem a little overpriced and a little unreliable.

Q: I want to know how reliable and gas efficient the Audi A3 Hatchback, with a 2.0 turbo,6 speed is with CVT?
I am looking to buy a 2006 Audi A3, with the 2.0 turbo. I am looking to exchange this vehicle for my 2003 VW Passat 4 Motion with a V-6 .Is this a good exchange or should I look for an SUV. I am adding to my family. I have a 5yr old now and a new baby will be coming in March. Thanks.

A: You should also take into consideration how long you plan to own the Audi. Maintenance costs for the CVT are higher than an AUTO or MANUAL. And the fuel economy rating is not much better for the CVT considering the maint. costs and claimed superiority. You should also consider the A4 AVANT, since they are similar in price but the A4 is larger and has quattro all wheel drive as an option that the A3 does not. You could also pick up older Audis, like the twin turbo ALLROAD wagon. Either way, you'll most likely be safer in any German car than you would be in an SUV. My former B5.5 Passat is a testament to that. I own an A6 2.7T now.

Q: What is my best option for adding ipod capabilities to my Audi A3?
2006 Audi A3 2.0 T 200 HP 6 speed, Audi Navigation plus.

A: I found the best thing since sliced bread...http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9oDEWuNVIo6/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142FMMOD01 It's not wireless. It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch that can used or it can be replaced with a relay powered by the remote wire from the radio (if so equiped). This IS the answer. Totally versatile.

Q: how much is my audi a3 worth 2006 special edition , 50,000 miles, but immaculate?
all cream leather interior, with climate control

A: KBB...

Q: Can you remove/disable the Immobaliser in a 2006 3.2 A3?
I have recently purchased an engine to install into my 1993 VW corrado. The engine is a 3.2 from an Audi A3 (engine code BUB), it came complete with an ECU and all wiring but the keys and transponder were not included. I didnt realise that they were required, is there a way to get around/disable the Immobaliser?

A: that is not posible bud u can reset with vagcom, or reading in the keys . or u can go to vw /audi dealer. good luck

Q: audi a4 or a3 ?
which do you think is better and why ? Audi a4 will be anywhere from 2002-2005 and the a3 will be 2006. Audi a4 will be quattro a3 may or may not be. Thanks also which one do you think looks better?

A: i would definetly go with an a4 if it is a quattro especially. The all wheel drive makes a fantastic difference in the handling. You will feel the difference in how the car feels round corners and on teh flat. Also depending on the engine size the a3 is much harder to get work done on the engine cos its all crammed in a small area compared to the a4. But last of all a saloon can be much more practical. On the a3's side it may be abit better inside as it'll be newer and the a4's can be a little plain(for some peoples taste). i would go for an a4 for all its worth.

Q: How can I fix cupping problems with all four of my car tires? Must I replace them all?
I have a 2006 Audi A3, outfitted with 4 Pirelli low profile tires. I found out too late that I should have rotated the tires every 4,000 miles to avoid "cupping" problems, which causes the tires to ride rough and noisy . According to a tire shop I must replace the set of tires to get rid of the noise and rough handling. Someone told me I could get the tires balanced while on the car to fix the problem but I'm not sure about that. Is there any dependable way to get the tire surface smooth again to eliminate the "cupping" problems?

A: an old line truck shop may still have a tire lathe and preform a truing cut on your tires [this reduces the life as it reduces the tread depth] but is the only option other than putting up with it or purchasing new typicly cupping has two main causes: toe adjustment and weak shocks.[speed on country roads don't help] the a3 and it's vw siblng all wear the tie rod ends and ball joints in short order and are "set" from the factory for better handeling charicteristics than tire wear.

Q: should audi dealerships be charging me for this?
i have an audi a3 and i am pretty sure it is having a coolant leak right now. i am bringing it in to the audi dealership today. the car is a 2006 model so it should still be under the 4yr/50K warranty. the car has 3.25K on it. should they be charging me for this checkup?

A: Not at all, it's under warranty. They should give you a car-wash too.

Q: high pitch whine coming from my engine?
I have an Audi A3 from 2006 that has about 75,000 miles on it-I drive ALOT- and it is making a high pitched noise. It only does this after the car is warm, and when I don't have my foot on the gas. What are the possibilities, and how much do they cost?

A: i would check the belts..... power string, ac, alernator. just push on the belt to see if it has slack. if so tighten it, or replace it. even if that is not the problem, you still got some maintance out of the way. good luck

Q: Purchasing second hand car problem in California?
Can anyone help me with my car problem on purchasing a 2nd car from private seller in California? I am going to buy a 2006 audi a3 from a private seller which i search from craiglist. However, the private seller still having the finanical from AAA, that means she still has some loan to pay so as to get the title of the car. Now, if i purchase the car from that seller, i have to pay her like around 20000, she will use some of the money to pay off the loan, then she has to wait for the title released from AAA, and then she will released her title to me. It costs me like a week or 2 for the title. I am kind of wondering that i pay her like 20000, but i still cannot get the title immediately. Is this method reliable? or can i directly get the title from AAA immediately if i go and pay off the loan along with her. or you get any better suggest that it helps me to get the title on the same day i pay her. thanks!

A: You go to the place where she has her loan and you have her sign the title over to you when the loan is paid in full. Then you take her with you to the DMV to transfer the title..
