Q: Got audi a3 18Tsport quattro 2000 problem with drivers door electric window does anyone know how to remove?
does anyone know how to remove interior door pannel on audi a3 to access electric window mecanisum
A: yep.... there will be torx screws around the lower edge of the door.. anythin with a plastic cap will have a screw underneath..the panel should pop off from the bottom and are usually on plastic poppers...sometimes after you have removed screws the panel will simply slide upwards..dep what the prob is you might be better off gettin your local rac autowindscreens to have a look for you...they charge a very reasonable rate for labour... the audi's are a nightmare inside the door , most a them you have to have special reverse facing ratchets to get the glass undone from the regulator as it is all backwards inside the door...you will see what i mean when you get inside.
Q: Does anyone have any ideas as to why my 2003 Audi A3 1.9 TDI Quattro loses acceleration ?
Only occurs on the motorway after driving approx 50 miles between 70 & 80 mph, it feels like some sort of blockage is occurring and just goes flat which can be a problem if overtaking at the time. If I switch engine off for a while it returns to normal performance and only ever does it when I've been driving on motorway. Any clues please ?
A: I think it's your MAF.
Q: What should I get? The Audi A3 2004 plate 3.2 quattro DSG Sport or The Audi S3 2003 225 bhp quattro?
What about depreciation? Anyone driven both? They cost around the same amount. Also I dont get why the lesser powerd 2.0 Turbo is noticably more expensive when buying second hand? My final thing is that in naturally aspirated cars I think that you get nowhere near the same sensation of acceleration and speed compared to a turbocharged smaller equally powerd engine. Why is that?
A: i would get the 3.2 if it were me but the turbo is much more tunable which opens up a larger market for resale which is most likely the reason you see them costing more although the turbo is lesser powered stock if you want a fast Audi you buy the turbo model and tune it the v6 are really good for someone who is just going to drive the car as is though.
Q: which car is better Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution or Skoda Octavia VRS or Audi A3 3.2L Quattro?
if possible tell me a bit about them
A: how is a wrx superior to an evo??
Q: Can you turn audi's quattro off? are the the 4-wheels always active or you can use only the front ones?
is it all the same with a3 quattro and s3's quattro. tell me more about it
is it the same with mercedes vehicles?
A: Full time all wheel drive cannot be disabled. Subaru automatics have a front wheel drive fuse but only for diagnostic purposes.
The only awd mercedes ive worked on was a early 90's 4matic. It didnt work and was rwd only. Didn't get a chance to figure out what the problem was. It didn't accelerate well i can tell you that.
Q: Will Audi be coming out with a Quattro option for their A3 2.0?
I know the A3 3.2 model has quattro, but I want the 2.0 with Quattro. And I know you can get it in Europe, but not in the US currently. Anyone know if that's going to happen?
A: Unfortunately the answer is no. Audi only offers the 2.0T Quattro in Europe and (judging from the sales figures) they will not be changing their mind. The reason why they launched the A3 2.0 only with front wheel drive as an option is because of the joint marketing strategy with VW. The A3 and Golf share the same wheelbase and the 2.0T is pretty much the same car as the GTI (mkV) but with a different badge and better quality. Thus, it is targeted more towards an older non-boyracer clientèle. If they were to offer the Quattro version of the 2.0T then there wouldn't be that big of a comparison between the A3 and the GTI.
Also, the A3 3.2 Sportback offered in the States and the VW R32 (due in the states within the next month or two) are pretty much the same car. Again, the reasons for their difference in price are the same as above.
Nonetheless, it must be said that the front wheel drive in the A3 2.0T is very fitting for the car's size and drivetrain, with exceptional balance and virtually no torque steer, something that you would expect from a GTI's sibling.
Hope this helped. Good luck.
Q: Advice on a gearbox problem on an Audi?
I’ve a 5 year old Audi A3 1.8t Quattro. It’s done about 34K miles and is in pretty good nick. The problem is that over the last 2 or 3 months, when changing up from 1st to 2nd gear under slightly harder than normal acceleration (i.e., pulling away from an uphill junction, or flooring it to get up to speed on the motorway – or just flooring it) it crunches as if the clutch were not fully engaged. In fact I thought it was me not fully pressing the clutch and ignored it. The problem continued and I was careful to ensure the clutch was fully employed. On a trip at the weekend I noticed that the problem had also started occurring in 3rd as well. Monday morning I booked it in at my local garage and it’s due to go in tomorrow. Of course since I’ve done that the gearbox has been as smooth as anything – for the first time in months!
What I want to know from any mechanics out there is this: Any ideas as to what the problem could be? If I take it to the garage would they be able to find anything, even though the symptoms are not showing at the moment? Should I cancel the appointment but take it straight over if the problem reoccurs?
Only sensible advice please!
A: its the syncromesh in the box vw's and audi's have suffered from this problem for years dating all the way back to the mk1 gti's, its not a cheap job im afraid its a case of either live with the crunch and hope it doesn't break up or bite the bullet and prepare for a big bill
Q: Audi A3 advice?
I'm looking to buy an Audi A3, maybe a year or two old, possibly the 2.0 FSI or 3.2 quattro, (this model seems to be cheaper for some reason) has anyone got one of these? what sort of service costs do they have? would you reccommend etc? any help much appreciated. I am based in the UK.
Thanks
Michelle
A: Hi Michelle,
I have had two A3, one with the 2.0T and front wheel drive, the other with a 3.2 and Quattro, and they were both superb.
The 2.0T is great on fuel, very peppy, and fairly quiet too.
The 3.2 is not so good on fuel, is just as quick as the 2.0T, and not quite as quiet.
I don't think you can go wrong with either car, both of mine ran trouble free (would still have the 2.0T if I hadn't cracked it up and replaced it with the 3.2). Maintenance costs were marginal, the usual stuff, oil changes and the like, and the cars hold together very well in daily duty.
Good luck in making your decision....
Q: Nissan Z350??????
I am thinking of buying a Z350, previous cars owned, Marcos LM500, Volvo C70 T5, Merc, 440 CLK, Jag XKR8, Audi A3 quattro 3.2 sline dsg. How does the Z350 compare on drive, handling etc?
I would like opinions before I go to the extent of test driving, lets face it, once you test drive, the sales guys become very persistent, and I really could do without that!
A: Have a look at the reviews below. If you really want to know then I suggest you book a test drive for yourself.
Q: Boy Racers?
This evening I was involved in an accident caused by a boy racer.
He was driving a very powerful red sorts car and pushed me off the road.
I live in the countryside here in The UK and was driving down a country lane.
He was travelling in the opposite direction.
He has caused me a lot of damage.
I have to have 2 new tyres and alloys.
He didn't stop at the scene of the accident just sped off.
Why is it that young men with powerful cars think they own the road.
Just in case any one thinks I was driving a tin bucket, my car is an Audi A3 Turbo Diesel Quattro Sports model.
Thanks Happy.
Doesn't apply in this case though does it.

What an interesting avatar and name!
Pity your comments do not match.
For Cassius:
A country lane is narrow in The UK.
Most people travel carefully.
He didn't.
He was heading straight for me and yes pushed me off the road.
I don't know if by attacking me you feel you are earning "brownie points" as we say in The UK.
I find your response puerile.
Cochise, I totally agree with you.
Having 2 daughters who drive I well know that; however in my very limited experience, the young men I see around here majority who drive carefully, all own powerful cars.
It's the foolish ones who appear to have to arrive at their destination quickly who have the accidents or who cause them,
It would be interesting to examine the number of accidents caused by young people to find out what nummber were male and female.
A: Believe it or not, there are actually a few guys out there who think that driving like maniacs (risk-taking and aggressive driving) is a sign of a "good driver." Just ask a few of the men in this forum and they'll tell you.
Never mind that they have higher insurance rates and are involved in more accidents. To these folk, it's a sign of their "superior" driving skills.
EDIT: Happy, that's not very funny.....lol
EDIT: Mathewssh...I am not a "man hater." I see questions in this forum all the time that put down women drivers... and I am repeating what these men have actually said.
