Q: thinking of buying a used audi a3 , got to down size ...any advice please?
A: Get a Golf instead.
Its the same car, but will cost less.
Q: What type of fuel should I use for my Audi A3?
I think the dealer recommends using 91 can I use something lower without damaging the engine?
A: You can use any grade fuel that you want. But if your car requires 91 octane or better and you use lower octane fuel you will notice a drop in power. In older cars you would also notice a knocking sound when you accelerate ( and knocking does damage motors)but newer cars with computerized ignition will retard the ignition to prevent this. Hence, the lower power output. And no, lower octane fuel should not damage this motor. The AUDI is a small displacement/high output engine. If this car were mine I would go with the factory recommendation unless 91 octane fuel was not readily available. Hope this helps.
Q: what headlight bulbs size is the 2006 Audi A3 using, low beam and high beam ??
A: Most likely this car has HID lamps and does not have a replaceable bulb
Q: Is the Audi A3 navigation system easy to use and practical?
Can you input several destinations (multiple stops)
Is it accurate
Is it easy to use
A: As long as the DVD is current - accuracy is excellent.
Did you read the Owner's Manual first? The manual is written on the 6th grade level so you can follow the directions easily (not that you have a 6th grade education, but making sure you can understand).
Q: Audi A3: Temperature gauge staying aroung 65-75?
The temperature gauge on my A3 used to get to 90, and stay there. Since last week, it stays in the 65-75 range, and doesn't really go much higher (unless I an idling). Would anyone what could be driving it? And can (should) I take a 200mile drive with this problem?
A: The problem is that the gauge may be inaccurate, that is very cold for an engine temp. If the gauge is correct you may have a thermostat stuck in the open position. If this is indeed the case you had better change it as your engine mixture depends on proper engine temp.

I'm looking at a used Audi a3 http://usedcars.audi.co.uk/carview.aspx?id=502023185
What sort of discount should I expect if paying cash?
A: None anymore the bank pays just as fast as cash these days and the dealer will make more if you finance with them.
Q: Can jump starting an Audi A3 cause a failure of the instruments?
After a service at an "independant specialist" no instruments worked. There was an original fault with the coolant sensor which caused the cooling fans to run for a short time after engine shutdown (they replaced the sensor). They admit the battery failed but say they used jump leads with suppressors and the dashpod when they took it out had been tampered with previously.(NOT TRUE).They also sent away alledgely an ECU (presumably the engine management one) for testing,- it was not faulty - do you need to take out the dashpod for a coolant problem?
They are offering to send the dashpod away for repair - is this possible ?
A: Well, that's why I tell my customers with late model cars not to jump start them or anyone else. New cars have to many electronic systems on them to be messing around with jumper cables,in most situations. But in the shop! What were these guys thinking! On the side of the road,at night,in the woods,is one thing. But in the service bay! Wow. Take it some ware else for second opinion.
Q: Does the new Audi A3 2.0T use premium fuel or regular?
A: turbo requires premium, if you use regular you can feel the boost on the turbo lag and also destroy your enginge in the long run!
Q: should i chip my Audi A3?
Im thinking of Chipping my 2006 Audi A3 2.0T. I was going to use the apr chip. I guess its not detectable by dealerships so it wont void my warranty which is nice because the car only has 6000 miles. This chip will bring the horsepower from 200 to 252. Is 700 bucks worth the extra 52 horsepower? will it be that much faster? will my car blow up? im a noob so any opinions will be appreciated. thanks.
A: I too have a 07 a3 2.0t and I can tell you I am going to get it chipped asap. The apr is the best. It is reliable and audi does boost the ecu on the 2.0t in the s3 to gain hp so I dont understand what the audi mechanic says otherwise , Btw I have also been told that I couldnt put audi nav in my car it would involve taking the whole inside out to rewire. I was told that by the sacramneto audi dealer. Guess what bought a audi nav used on navplus website and it took me all of 25 minutes to installand works perfectly. SO moral of the story dont always listen to peeps just cause they work for the company. Many arent paying attention. Go for it dude cause getting a 50 hp gain is very costly any other way. Cheap price for 50 hp considering a nice turbo back or cat back runs us around 1000 it only gives at most a 10 hp gain.good luck I have heard many happy customers that got the apr on the a3.
Q: what petrol does an Audi A3 need??
i have an 1997 manual audi A3. i need to know if i should use regular unleaded fuel/petrol or premium unleaded fuel/petrol.
whats the best petrol for this type of audi???
A: Read the Manual then. That Owner's Manual comes with all the info the driver needs.
You can not go wrong with the higher octanes. All fuels are unleaded anyway. If you run regular and does not knock or ping, I would keep using it. Try smalls amounts like few liters here and there. If it pings put the premium type.
Good luck.
Q: cheap used or new cars any tips?
where can i buy cheap cars from? dont mind used cars am looking for an audi A3,A4 or bmw 320d ive been told to travel up north for cheap cars
any tips or contacts?
A: The most under valued cars right now are the big luxury cars. If you look for one with low miles, and about 7-10 years old, you can get an excellent deal. The reason being that the people who by those things, get them for a status symbol. In 7-10 years they are no longer a status symbol. Usually they get much better fuel economy and have greater power than other cars their size. A Lincoln Continental or town car is a great price right now if you buy late nineties and early 2000 models. Also Caddies and so fourth. Good luck. Hope you find a great one.
Q: can i use brake fluid to top up power steering on audi a3 1.8t?
