Q: How long does it take to custom order an Audi A4?
I'm thinking about buying a new Audi A4 and take advantage of the 'pick it up at the factory in Germany' deal. How will it take from the time I place my order until it's ready?

A: It depends how far from the factory you are located and how muh custom equipment you ordered. In Germany, you need about 2 months fro the new A4. If you want the new Avant, It won't be out till spring. In the US and the UK, even the 4 door won't be out till spring at the earliest. If you you want the car completely customised by Quattro GmbH, it's a matter of negotiation. Expect at least 4 months in germany.

Q: How much does is cost to maintain an 1999 Audi A4 ?
I am trying to finance a car, just graduated from college. Honestly anyone know how much it would be to maintain a 1999 Audi Quattro A4? It has a 100,000 miles on it and is being sold for $5,995. Is this a good car to buy and drive, or would I be paying an arm and a leg to keep it serviced?

A: they are expensive to maintain they are not for the person who is happiest with a Toyota that never needs servicing they are for someone who wants quality and performance and is willing to pay for it. The original buyer's of Audis (or BMWs and MB) are not looking for cheap to own they are looking four build quality and performance both of which you get ample of in an Audi but you also get 60-100$ oil changes and if the timing belt has not been done on that car you need to have it done it runs $1000+ form the dealership but can be done by and independent mechanic for around $500 they should really be done every 75K miles (even if the book says 120K) if it is a 1.8T you must use premium ALL the time if it is a 2.8 you can get away with mid grade but the car will retard the timing and you loose horse power with the mid grade. so yeas its a great car its also right at the time period when allot of maintenance is due makes sure some of it has been done (timing belt and water pump are the biggest thing) if it is still on original struts and shocks they usually only last 120K or so not much more check for oil leak and anything like that. Honestly Audi is still one of the cheaper cars to maintain in its class BMW is slightly more expensive for most models and MB can be just outright exorbitant.

Q: Is it possible to change the computer settings on an Audi A4 1997 if it revs too high?
This may or may not be a stupid question!! But I have an Audi A4 that REVs too high compared to other comparable... Is it possible (or even worth) changing/resetting the computer to help the gear ratios? If its possible, is it best to get a mechanic to do the job or can any smart minded person do the job? .

A: I am assuming that you are referring to the RPMs going higher than usual before your transmission shifts. If this is the case, there is nothing you can program. Unfortunately, there is nothing an Audi Technician can do to program it either. How do I know? I am an Audi Technician. We can code or perform adaptations, but we can't reprogram those sort of parameters. You could try altering your driving style too. When you get higher up in the RPMs, you can ease of the gas a little to get the trans to shift earlier. If this does not change anything there may be an electrical problem with your trans. Also you could check the kickdown switch. If it is stuck, the trans would be in a constant "kickdown state," meaning it thinks you want to quickly accelerate and holds the gear higher into the RPM range.

I have a 2005 Audi A4. This is an American car. What's involved in installing daytime running lights. Is it something that I can do myself?

Q: Where can i get a free manual for the Audi A4 2001?
I have the 2001 Audi A4, but did not get the manual, where can i get it for free, maybe download it?

A: You probably can't get a free manual - I faced the same problem when I got my A6, but you can contact Bentley Publishers who can supply one for you at a nominal cost. Dealers will also steer you to them, so they are the place to go.

Q: How do I change the battery in a 2002 Audi A4?
I have a 2002 Audi A4. I can see the battery and it seems easy to remove both of the cables. However, there is a plastic bar covering the battery, making the battery difficult or impossible to remove. The plastic bar is connected to the surrounding mount. I cannot figure out how to open this plastic bar. Any ideas? Thank you.

A: Use a 6mm ball end allen wrench... not the one you get in your tool kit but a specialized tool that's quite a bit longer. 8"+ Check your local hardware store. Of course this is assuming you're talking about the B6 chassis. 2002 is a split year and certain B5 models are designated as year 2002. I think you're talking about the B6 though. Also note: The batteries in these cars are somewhat oddly shaped... often times the battery you get at your neighborhood auto parts store won't fit underneath the tie-down or even underneath the battery cover. Be sure to measure the new battery and make sure it will fit before you buy it. Don't drive without the battery secured properly with the tie-down. Good luck!

Q: How expensive is maintenance on an 1999 audi a4?
I just bought a 1999 audi a4 with 133,000 miles. It recently had most of the belts changed including timing belt. I think the brakes were recently done. Nothing seems to be the matter with it except the brake light flashes even though the e brake is down. The reason I bought the car was I got an incredible deal on it ($1875). I am concerned about maintenance. How expensive can it be?

A: You shouldnt have any schedualed maintenance in the near future. You should probably look over the car and make sure there are no small problems that can turn into big ones. For $1875 I'm willing to bet there is something wrong, so if you cant find it you may want to take it in and have a mechanic go over it. If everything is fine your only maintenance expense will be oil changes ($75+ at most places).

Q: How much should I pay for a timing belt change for a 2003 audi A4?
I have an Audi a4 with 57K miles, and it is due for 60K service. The dealer asks for $800, and it doesn't include timing belt. My question is how much should I pay for replacing timing belt? and is $800 a fair price to charge for 60k service? Thanks.

A: The scheduled Audi time is 2.6 hours for timing belt change + parts.$800 is expensive for 60,000 service.Regards Mick.

Q: Where can i find the coolant temperature sensor on a 2004 audi a4?
I need to replace my coolant temperature sensor and i cant find it anywhere. the dealer is trying to charge me $200 bucks to try to replace something as easy as this...anybody got a 2004 Audi 1.8 V6 A4?

A: try ebay or craigslist. i know the audi dealer charges so much for repairs.

Q: When does a timing belt need to be replaced on 2003 Audi A4?
I have a 2003 Audi A4 with 75K miles on it. The dealer is pushing to have the timing belt replaced, but it isn't recommended in the user manual until 105K miles. I have seen a lot of problems with premature breakage on the late 90s models. Has this problem been fixed or is it still an issue? I am driving from OK to Alaska in January and really don't want to have it break driving through Canada.... Thanks!

A: To be safe, I'd go ahead and get the timing belt replaced in the next month or two. Yes, the manual may say 105K as the replacement interval, but sometimes they go out around 90K. You'll find owners who will replace the TB at 70-80K as a precautionary measure. In any case, I would get it replaced before you go on any cross country drive. It's not cheap to do (around $1000 - most of that is labor) but compared with a belt breakage and the resultant damage, it's well worth it. Be sure also to replace the water pump at the same time as well as the ancillary equipment such as tensioner, pulley, etc.

A: I am an Audi Technician. If you tell me what year your A4 is, I can tell you how to reset it.

Q: How much will it cost to reset the stereo on an Audi A4?

A: It should not cost u anything, all u need to do is go to any Audi Dealer with the rego papers for poor of ownership. That is all i had to do.

I just would liek a detailed explanation on how to change the air filter on a 1999 Audi A4 1.8t? Thank You very much and possibly what tools i will need. Thanks.

A: First you need to locate your air filter box, it is hooked to the throttle body normally towards the front of your car.As far as tools, it depends on how audi has it set up some use clips you just flip up others use a philip screw driver.Honda uses either a philips or a 8mm socket. its easy as taking the old one out and putting the new one in, nothing more.
