Q: I own 2006 Audi A4 and what's the average life time of brake pad?
I own 2006 Audi A4 and what's the average life time of brake pad?
It's making a squeeking sound. How much will it cost?
A: about a year more or less depends on the drivers foot and how cheap the pads were you replace them your self about 25 bucks you call call any parts store and get real price.. have them replace about 100 buck plus.. 10,000 to 50,000 depending on how much you drive and how you brake. .hard driving will not last that long
Q: I have a 2006 Audi A4, how can I make the stereo sound better?
I love the car except for the sound system. I had a loaner 2007 a few months ago that also had the standard sound system. But it sounded much better than my 06. The dealer told me Audi changed the speakers for 07. I'm just looking for some speakers with better clarity without spending a small fortune. Perhaps changing the four big speakers. Any suggestions?
Hi Audi-Nate, Both cars had the same standard stereo (Not Bose) except that the 07, I believe, didn't have a tape player. It's definitely not the settings that made the 07 sound better than the 06. I noticed a considerable difference in the sound quality from a cd I had played quite a bit in my 06. When I played it in the 07 loaner it sounded much better.
A: I do believe you were lied to by the dealer. I do not know of any changes to the speakers between '06 and '07 in the A4's speakers. They are both B6's with very little difference between them. If both had standard speakers, the loaner did not have Bose Premium Sound, there can only be a few differences.
Do your car and the loaner both have the same radio? Symphony II, RNS-E (Audi Nav Plus), etc. Different head units sound different. Have you adjusted your equalizer settings? Were you listening to the same thing? Over the air radio sounds worse than Sat. radio or a CD.
It is possible to upgrade, but be sure there is not an explanation for the difference before you spend the money. Bose speakers do sound better.
By the way, the new S8 and R8 both have Bang & Olufsen sound as an option, which sounds phenomenal.
Hey Michael,
Well, you said that the '07 did not have a tape deck, that would make it a different unit. That could be the difference in sound quality. Also I know that the head unit is no different on a Bose system, compared to a standard sound system. The head unit is merely coded to be Bose or Non-Bose. The Bose system uses active speakers with built in amplifiers. You could purchase Bose speakers and install them yourself. After installation, you would need to find someone with VAG-COM software, or take your car to an Audi dealer to have it coded. The radio needs to be "told" that it is connected to Bose speakers, to get the full Bose experience. Bose sound is tailored to the acoustic coutures of each Audi vehicle. The radio is already setup for Bose, but it needs to be coded. Installing Bose speakers would not be very hard nor expensive. I would not recommend putting aftermarket (non-Audi) speakers in your car, as they may actually sound worse. The impedance of both the speakers and head unit should match for the best quality.
I drive a 2004 Audi S4 with Bose, it sounds great.
Q: What are the best high performance, all-season tires for a 2006 Audi A4?
I'm considering Goodyear Eagle F1's, mainly because it's a local company. But I hear good things about Michelin's and Bridgestone's also. My Pirelli's have been good on performance, but they're loud and they went downhill quickly at 30,000 miles.
A: A little bit depends on the size since that determines what is available (06" A4 still leaves a lot of possible size choices depending on vehicle specifics) but the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position is a fantastic all-season tire (remarkably good in snow for a UHP AS) that still offers great dry grip and handling with a decent ride and longish treadwear. No tire does it all but this one comes closer than any I have tried and I have tried most - I work in the tire industry.
The new Eagle F1 All Season I have not tried because it has only just come out. In fact, I have not even seen one in person yet. Goodyear are on a bit of a roll with decent tires (for the first time in a long time) so it should be pretty good, but better than the Bridgestone? I tend to doubt it.
The Michelin Pilot Exalto AS comes closest to the Bridgestone but having driven both types extensively I still prefer the Bridgestone model. It truly is an exceptional tire.
Someone above mentioned Nokian. The tire he was probably referring to is the WR, which is a true "4-season" tire in that it is essentially a winter tire tread pattern with an all-season rubber compound so you don't have to buy two sets of tires. It will be remarkably superior to any of the above tires in more than a few inches of snow or on ice, but it will also not handle nearly as crisply or offer the high levels of dry grip as the above choices. I had a set of WR's that I was using as an all-season tire on my wife's minivan but I have since relegated them to strict winter-only duty and use Nokian's "I3" performance touring tire the other 3 seasons. I just like them better on warm pavement.

Q: I am looking into getting a 2006 Audi A4. What is the difference in an S-Line?
Any difference in the look of the car?
A: s line up of audi is akin to the AMG or M division of the benz or the bmw. its their sports division. the s cars will be more expensive cause they are preformance and driving tuned. they would be more like the top of the line Audi A4 on streoids.
i would really ,really recomend you to get a 03 e55 instead
Q: Where can I get my 2006 Audi A4 "chipped"?

Q: Would you recommend buying a 2006 Audi A4 Quattro?
I am thinking of buying one, but everyone says Audi's are bad cars. I heard if one thing goes wrong, then it's like a chain reaction of more problems. But consumerreports.org gave the 2006 model a very good rating in new and used car verdict and excellent in other categories. Confused! Should I buy one?
A: Hi, I had a 2002 Audi A4 2.0 I traded in a few months ago for a 2006 A4 2.0 Quattro. I had good luck with the 2002 (It had 68,000miles when I traded it in), only small standard problems, but all covered under the warranty (I had no problems from 50K miles until I traded it in!). The '06 also is last year that comes with full maint for the first 50k miles, which is nice. I love the cars.... they drive very stable, in all weather, including New England winters! They feel solid when you are driving it, and all the reviews from edmunds and other reviewers say exactly that. Don't believe the negative 'hype', that seems to be left over from much earlier models from the 80's. I'm sure you'll enjoy the A4 if you decide to go for it!!
Q: What could that warning sign mean in audi A4 2006?
A "km/h" symbol shows up in a yellow bordered circle, what could it mean?
P.S.
I dont have miles per hour on my dashboard to assume it could be dealing with speedometer modifications and it makes a loud beep every 5 seconds, it would be abnormal for the car to act so hysterically over nothing
A: That is your speed warning, audi put in a program that allows you to set a speed warning, 1 and 2 so that you can notify yourself if you accelerate above a certain speed (so you don't get a ticket) it sounds as though you have turned yours on unintentially, you will need to scroll through your multifunction display and turn it off.
Q: 2002-2006 Audi A4 can you do it YOURSELF????
Im looking into a 2002-2006 Audi A4 1.8T it will probably have about 30,000-60,000 miles on it and i was wondering is it hard to change oil, brakes, filters and all that? I like to do all that stuff my self but I was wondering could i still do it with this car?
Thanks,
A: yes the oil change is not relatively hard but lyou do need to reset the oil change light and will need to search that brakes do able with the right tools but probably not needed until you reach around 50K but the rotors might need to be machined if thats the case you cant do that at home.

Q: I Crashed my 2006 AUDI A4 2.0T F/Wheel Drive, I Need an Estimate Price & Quote for what you think I damaged ?
I was driving on the freeway off ramp doing about 60mph, wasn't able to break on time, passed the intersection, drove over the curb and came to a complete stop to the fence. I was not injured, the vehicle didn't look wrecked.
My 2006 Front Wheel Drive Audi A4 2.0T S Line stock rims were not cracked but bent from the impact, all 4 tires flat. My Front wheels were pointing opposite direction, my hood looked open and scratched.
I Haven't seen my car yet, this is as much as I seen, its on hold for other issues but clueless about the damage aswell.
Knowledgable Answers only Please!
A: Hmmm, I'm confused. The car doesn't look wrecked yet you describe all the damage to the car, which you have not seen yet. you want to get you story straight and get back with us on this? your most likely looking close to 12,000 to repair the damages. If your front wheels are at different angles to each other you have broken the axle shafts and possibly the transmission it's self. You hood and fenders need to be reworked. Your looking new rims and tires (you have broken the steel belts in the tires, replace them) Now if the transmission os damaged you have most likely broken the transmission mounts and possibly the motor mounts, not to mention numerous front end parts. if your rack and pinion survived the impact that should save you some money. but you are pretty much looking at a complete front end rebuild on the car. It's possible it may never ride or handle the same way again. Not to mention that you will have tons of rattles coming from the front end for a while. That's just my estimate. Hope it helps. Next time when you know you have an exit start to slow down before you get there.
Q: 2008 VW Jetta or 2006 Audi A4?
For my first car? I'm 16 & going to get an automatic.
I would pick either a new 2008 VW Jetta SE or a used 2006 Audi A4 Sedan w/ FWD, not Quattro (I can consider Quattro but I rarely get snow).
They are both around $20,000.
I haven't done much research on the A4, but my favorite features of the 2008 Jetta are (and I know the list is long):
Steering wheel doesn't jerk on bumps
Electro-mechanical steering
3-revolution lock-to-lock steering wheel
Drive gear / Sport mode / Tiptronic
Side airbags (front & rear)
Automatically locks at 8mph / unlocks on impact
One-touch power windows all around
Full size spare tire
Rear window defroster
Valet lock-out for trunk
Leather steering wheel
Height-adjustable & telescopic steering column
Rear passenger ventilation
Ventilated disk brakes
(TPMS)
(ABS)
(EBD)
(HBA)
(ASR)
(EDL)
(EBA)
(ESP)
Front & rear stabilizer bars
6-speed transmission
Almost 30mpg highway
16 cu ft of trunk capacity
Somewhat stiff suspension
Little road noise
Good leg room in rear
A: The Audi A4 has be shockingly unreliable. And not just in one area either, but a whole variety of chronic problems have been a major character flaw for the A4. Do a search and you'll find thousands of articles citing numerous engine and transmission problems, fluid leaks, rattles (oh, the rattles!), cheap parts, and erratic performance.
The Jetta is the A4 but with surprisingly fewer complaints overall. They'll last longer and are much cheaper to fix. You'll be happier with the Jetta - despite a smaller emphasis on performance - when you don't have to keep taking it back to the dealer for quirks that shouldn't exist. Besides, who doesn't want a new car when they're 16?
Q: What maintenance should I expect on a 2006 Audi A4?
I'm currently leasing a 2006 Audi A4 2.0T quattro that was new in July '06. I've taken excellent care of the car, which will have about 27,000 miles on it when my lease ends in July '09.
If I decide to keep the car what maintenance costs should I expect in the next 3 years? 6 years? I'm especially interested in major events like timing belt changes, new brake rotors, etc.
Apologies to John C who responded to my previous question. I accidentally deleted it.
A: it varies greatly because there is really know way of telling the future on the car. if it has never had any major problem it could last you another 10 years or it could bring problems within 2 or 3 years. if you say it only has 27000 miles and you really take care of it then i would keep it and give it a shot. regular maintanace is fairly expensive for the audi becuase it is a german luxury car brand, but i still feel it is worth it. and timing belts won't need to be replaced for a while with the mileage you have.
hope i helped
