Q: How to change hazard switch in 2000 Audi A6?
I need to replace my hazard switch on my 2000 A6. How does the plastic piece covering it come off without damage. Does it pop off or do the cup holder and card holder need to come off first. If so how do those come off?
A: It would most likely be risky to do this task by yourself. I recommend you take your vehicle to an Audi dealer, and they should replace your hazard switch at little or no cost!
Q: What is the best answer to fix the Code# P0421 for Audi 2000 A6?
I just bought to Audi 2000 A6 Quattro, It had the check engine light on. AutoZone and Mechnic Shop ran the diagnostic for error code are:
1. (Bank 1, sensor 2) and (Bank 2, sensor 2) are bad
2. catalyst efficiency low-bank 1
3. the oxygen sensor monitor the catalytic converters ability to store oxygen
4. catalytic converter defective (failure possibly probable causes)
5. Catalytic converter defective (failure possibly due to #2, 3, or 4)
6. Engine misfire or running condition
7. Large vacuum leak
8. Engine oil leakage into exhaust-valve guide seals, piston rings.
Can someone have any ideas to know exactly how? I would like to know what's specific error for my problem, so I would save money and time to fix my car? Thanks. God bless you!
A: You need a new catalytic converter....that is what that code means
Q: Just bought a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T, what would happen if I put reg or mid grade gas in it?
I know premium is the recommended fuel for this car. However, I'm also a college student looking to save a buck here or there so I was wondering what the repricussions would be if I put lower grade fuel in. Would it damage the fuel system or engine in any way, or would it just hurt the performance. Obviously if it would cause major problems that would be expensive to repair, I would rather just pay a little more for gas.
A: actually you can get away with 89 octane, there are different methods used for determining fuel grades and 89 is fine in the US. Read your owners manual, then compare the rating with the rating at your favorite gas stations. Stick with the big names if you can. I have/had Audi 200's, Volvo turbos and an S4, in all but the S I ran 89 without issue.
Q: I have a 2000 Audi A6 and the AC stopped working. The system is charged but I am getting error 19 03?
If I enter the diagnostic menu on the climate control, I get error 19 03. Does anyone know what this means? All I seem to be able to find on the internet is old error code tables from early 90's A4's.
I have tried Audi Forums and other Audi sites but all they seem to have is old information for 1990-1998 Audi's.
A: Have you tried Audi world forums?
Q: I just bought a 2000 audi 2.7 a6 i want to increase the performance anybody have any ideas?
i just bought a 2000 audi 2.7 a6 does anybody have any suggestions on how to increase the performance safely? Or any aftermarket ideas?
A: APR does have an ECU upgrade which will run you about $600 US. I would advise against it. Since the vehicle is a 2000, it probably has fairly high mileage. These ECU upgrades increase boost which in turn will wear out parts faster than stock boost. As you probably know the 2.7t is a bi-turbo engine and it is not fun at all to replace anything on (especially turbos). I have done this and you have to drop the whole engine and trans through the bottom of the car (extremely time consuming and expensive). I would advise not modifying this car but if you have to, APR has quality tunes and you can find it here http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/ecu_upgrade_a627t.html.
Q: How do I remove the caliper to replace the front Rotor on a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T quattro.?
A: Just to 12m? bolts behind the knuckle
Q: Where is the speed sensor located at in a 2000 Audi A6 2.7t quattro?
I also had a boot rip on both the driver and passenger side of the axles. Could that be the cause of my speed sensor failure and also make the chesk engine light come on?
A: its behind the brake rotor. it has a wire running to it so you can identify it. the boot could be the cause. that sensor reads rotation of grooves on the front axles. when crud gets in those grooves or near that sensor, it could cause it to stop functioning correctly. the grease from your CV joint may cause this. sounds like it is probably the cause. have whoever is replacing your CV boots scan the codes on it and see what it is and also wipe down the whole area around that sensor if it is covered in grease.
Q: Audi A6 2000 Quattro?
My husband and I are thinking about purchasing an 2000 Audi A6 4.2, and we were wondering if anyone knew how much it cost to get things serviced on it. Wether it was a strut, brakes, or whatever else. We are just wondering if we are making a good investment or if we are digging ourselves a hole with work that may need to be done in the future. it is a good car and needs a few things done on it.
A: A regular service on a C5 A6 with no mechanical problems usually costs no more than $200 out of warranty Now, if they car you and your husband are considering to purchase has problems with brakes, and the like, then expect to spend $1,000+ due the average labor costs in the out-of-warranty German car mechanic shop industry. One of the nastiest combinations I can think of would be to have the brakes, calipers, and rotors replaced, a new timing belt installed, and the re-tweaking of the engine because of the havoc the out-of-time timing belt reeked in the engine compartment.
I experienced this first hand at my uncle's shop, Foreign Performance in Evansville, IN, when I purchased a 2000 S4 off eBay that had similar problems. Parts and labor costs ended up totaling nearly $10,000! Make sure you have an Audi-certified mechanic inspect the car before you purchase it; if he finds any problems, he will more than likely give you an estimate.
Depending on how many miles and the number of options the A6 has, I would say that, considering this A6 is your average loaded 4.2 model with about 65,000 miles, I would expect to pay between $16,000-$20,000; this would include whatever maintenance needs to be performed on the car.
Your best bet is to purchase an Audi through the Used Audi-Certification program. Since I purchased the S4, I have only bought Audis that were Audi certified; I have had no problems with my RS6 and A6 2.8. The certification program may also include an extended warranty, which will obviously be extremely useful if some major mechanical malfunction would occur. The 4.2 is a wonderful car; if it only needs a couple of non-critical repairs, I would definitely buy it. You will love this car, as not only is it comfortable, elegant, refined, ergonomic, powerful...many adjectives can describe this car of course...but it is also a especially reliable car that is engineered to perfection. I hope this helps you!
Q: My 2000 Audi A6 has the stereo on safe mode and I can't get it off?
I have the code but don't know how to input it.
A: HI - found this on the web while trying to get my a4 out of safe mode! hope it helps us both!
To unlock the radio with the proper code:
Press and hold (at the same time) the AM/FM and the SCAN buttons until the display reads "1000".
Use the station preset buttons 1,2,3,4 to change each of the digits to the proper code. Button 1 changes the first digit (on the left), button 2 changes the second digit, etc.
Note: supposedly the programmable units were originally coded with either "1111" or "1234" by the dealer. It is quite possible that the code was never changed by previous owners, so if you don't know the code, you can try these.
Press and hold the AM/FM and SCAN buttons again until the radio comes on.
If you fail to give the correct code after two tries, the unit will be locked in "safe" mode and won't change. To try again, leave it switched on for approximately one hour.
Q: how to remove a starter on a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T?
i am trying to replace it but don't know where it's located
A: Look for an area right under the engine, it should have two or three bolts, and two wires hooked up to it. It should look something like this, http://www.innerauto.com/images/partImages/starter2.jpg
Q: How to service 2000 audi a6 transmission?
A: The best way is to go to a shop with a transmission flushing machine. this cleans out all trans cooler lines the transmission itself and the trans radiator. It will use approximately 20l of ATF to do this, but worth saving you the aggravation.

A: It really doesnt cost anymore than any other car and the audi is a really good car.
Q: I'm seriously considering buying a 2000 A6 Audi Quattro SE with 115k miles. What should I know before buying?
A: An Audi pushing 8 years with over 100k miles already has spent most of its life. I would personally not recommend buying this vehicle for several reasons starting at the top with the high cost of maintaining and operating this vehicle now. Parts are very costly and at this point many components will start to fail and need replacement. Common problems with this model include-- timing belt, fuel injectors, fuel pump, front and rear bearings, driveshaft components including knuckels and rings, exhaust system components, engine and transmission seals, new header, oxygen sensors, A/C relay switches, front suspension rust, worn brake lines, loose rear subframe and the list goes on. In the end, this car will cost you more to operate than it is worth.
I would avoid this vehicle at all costs. Save yourself a major headache and put the money into a more reliable vehicle like a used Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or Chrysler 300 AWD.
Q: Hallo! Can i put AHA cylinder heads instead ATQ on my 2000 AUDI A6 with 2.8 ATQ engine? Thanks!?

Q: 2000 audi a6 a/c problems?
i bought a 2000 audi a6 a few months agoand everything was working fine the first two/three months. but then after a while until this moment i would turn on the a/c and only warm air would come out and i dont know whats wrong with it. i know i have it set on cold air.lol i'm not dumb.but its becoming a problem because now its summer and sometimes you want to put on the air and hot air isn't so great.so if anyone can help me figure out the problem that would be great.thanks
A: I'd get it to a shop (most charge less than 30 dollars for an ac system analysis) and get an estimate on repairing it, otherwise everyone here is just guessing.
