Q: How do you replace a brake light on a 2001 Audi A6?
Any help from professionals would be much appreciated.

A: I drive an Audi A4 (2000). And it should be similar. You open the trunk. Behind the lights (inside the trunk) should be some carpeting and plastic cover. You remove the plastic cover and then remove the a lighting module (all by hand - no tools). The brake light should just come right out. It would probably help if you had a flash light. But either way these things are pretty easy to remove (fix) once you get the hang of it. ==== This article does NOT address changing the bulb the you can get an idea of what the tail light assembly and module looks like: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext33.shtml Good Luck.

Q: How do you program the keyless entry for a 2001 Audi A6?
My keyless entry just randomly stopped working, I tried my alternate keyless entery and it will not work. I also have a Valet Key that I used just before my keyless entry stopped....could this have something to do with it?

A: You need to get it to an Audi dealer they need to do a code read out to find fault.

Q: How much will insurance be ~about~ for a 2001 Audi a6 if I'm a 19 yr old female??
Yeah I know it differs from place to place, company to company, history, and everything. I just need an estimate.

A: A lot.... :) Considering you are a FT student with atleast an average of "B" grade, working PT, living in DC, Single, driving your Audi only 12000 miles per year, and insuring with Gieco, you will be paying between 1400 and 1500 dollars per 6 months, with 500 dollars deductibles. Now the rates can go up or down if you change your deductibles. The higher the deductibles the lower the rate. Also it depends on where you live too. Hope this helps.

Q: How can I clean my 2001 AUDI A6 2.7T headlights, and with what ?
I live in Phoenix, and my headlights are slightly abraded and getting dull. Is there a secret elixir to used and how?

A: Are you talking about the headlight cover, and not the headlights itself? You can use a plastic cleaner or polisher designed for headlight and tailight lenses...go to any auto store like AutoZone or Kragen's, it will cost you just a few bucks.

Q: I have a 2001 Audi A6 2.7T. does anyone know where is the radiator cap to flush the coolant?
What type of coolant is recommended for me to use?

A: the cap for the flush is in the lower hand driver side, its infront of the radiator, you need to take off the very lower driver hand side grille insert, it should have a little spot to put in a flat head screw driver. , once you have taken that off, you should see a red cap, you'll have to twist that off, and the ani-freeze should come out, audi tech's recomend glycon 12, you can only purchase it at the audi service department

Q: How do I stop the alarm from arming when I am sitting in my 2001 Audi A6?

Q: how do i reset the service indicator on 2001 AUDI A6?
i tried what the manual says a couple of time but it still comes on..

A: commonly, dealerships will ask you to bring the car to their Garage. My advice is to get a manual, or perhaps see if the procedure is listed anywhere online. Of course, it could take a 'special tool', which can be pricey!

Q: 2001 audi a6 performance?
i just got a 2001 audi a6 2.7t, what are some cheap upgrades i could put on it to get over 400 horsepower? (250 stock). Also what are some cool rims i could put on my audi.

A: There are no cheap upgrades to get you to 400 horsepower. Secondly, horsepower is an imaginary number, calculated from torque. Thirdly, you don't have 250. You have around 190 or so, at the wheels. So, if you want 400, you need to almost double your output. Not cheap. Not reliable. Not worth it. Also, the WHEELS you have on your Audi are perfectly good.

Q: I have a 2001 Audi A6 2.7T and I've just been told that there is problem with my 'torque converter'.
After a little investigating, I've discovered that quite a few A6's, at the dealership and the private Audi mechanic that I've contracted with, have had this problem. There are no recalls on this part however. The mechanic also stated that it is unusual for a torque converter to go bad. Does anyone know about this problem and is it common with A6's. My car has only 69K miles but I've taken impecable care of the vehicle. I just need to know more about this before I spend the big bucks that are required to fix it.

A: This sounds like it is a rare problem vs. being problematic, and it would be unusual for a torque convertor to go bad. Sorry. You are out of warranty, unless you have an extended one. There seems to be no web site where angry Audi owners are demanding fixes to defective TC's even though you say "quite a few A6's", unless you start one. I applaud your attempt, but it make take a lot more if this is a silent problem that goes unacknowledged by the manufacturer.I checked for TSB's and nothing comes up for the A6 on the transmission.

Q: where can I find a pdf version of the owners manual for a 2001 Audi A6?

A: try audi's website or go to your nearest audi dealership.

Q: I am looking at a 2001 Audi A6 2.7 Quattro. It has 76K miles. What concerns should I have? Price $12K. Thot?
I am looking for thoughts and concernson that car. Drive train, motor, any problems I should look for. Also extra matinance issues. Thank you, Jones

A: you want to make sure the timing belt, serpentine belt, and water pump have all been replaced, if not, the car is at the mileage that they should be done. and it costs anywhere from 800-2000

Q: 2001 AUDI A6 tranmsission problem?
This is the description: "This car will need to have the transmission repaired or replaced. It has reverse but only creeps slowly in the forward gears. All wheel drive ,Automatic,169K " What could cause this behavior?

A: Improper maintenance or fluid leak (low fluid level) You should get the car into the dealer for an inspection. I believe that these units are sealed and only require servicing if there is a leak. Also, you can't use any other fluid in it besides the official Audi transmission fluid. It is mineral oil based, not petroleum based. Other than that, check your fuse box for anything labeled "trans". Good Luck!!!

Q: when do I change the timing belt on a 2001 Audi A6?

A: Assuming a Audi A6 has a timing belt (not a timing chain like my Saab 9-5 does), then it's 60k miles.
