Q: Are there any speaker upgrades available for a 2003 Audi A6?
I have a 2003 Audi A6 with the concert headunit and dash mounted CD Changer. The Speakers sound awful and I want to know what the best speakers I can buy and fit into the exisitng door recess. (I dont want to have to cut or modify the door trims to recieve larger speakers) I am ideally looking for a UK supplier of any kit. Many Thanks for your help
A: all cars have the potential to upgrade speakers. Check www.crutchfield.com for what will fit in the doors/rear deck etc. then you will have an idea of what you are looking for when you shop in the UK.
Q: whats teh difference between the 1998 audi a6 and the 2003 audi a6 (outside looks)?
Please tell em the differences between all the in between dates. I want to only know about the looks of the car. The back and front. I would really appreciate it.
A: In terms of the front, the grill on the 98 is slightly smaller than the 03. Moreover, the black foglight covers are different. The back is essentially the same; the only difference is that in the 98 the turn signal is red, and the 03 the turn signal is yellow. In terms of the wheels, both cars have different wheel designs, with the 98 having more spokes than the 03.
Q: i need some help with Audi 2003 A6 Quarto!!?
i have just bought 2003 Audi A6 Q, when i turn the wheel R or L and start to move the car i hear and feel strange sound and feeling. when i check with the dealer whome i bought it from he told me that is the AWD system and it is normal in that model.
any one can help me with that, is he correct or another layer
A: This AWD system should not make any noise and should not feel hard to handle no more than any other car.
This 4 wheel drive system on this Audi is one of the best..
The drive set up is not locked in on any differential so it does not feel hard to steer.
If the steering is hard, try this quick check, steer around a steady corner with the foot off the gas, car should steer perfectly... Now try the same corner again but as you go around apply some gas as you come out of the corner... if the steering fights you and tries to straighten up fiercely there is a problem with the differential / Transfer gears.
If this is a model that has 3 traction road settings,, example.. Tarmac, Snow, Gravel. just check that its not in snow or gravel as this will cause all sorts of funny things as you drive on a perfect road.
Good luck..
Q: 2003 Audi A6 Underheats?
I have a 2003 Audi A6 3.0 ... wit 52 K miles.... sometimes when i drive it the engine tempature is only a quarter hot, and then it goes back to the middle after 40 minutes then it goes back to quarter and sometimes stayes there could it be that the gauge is messed up or its something else
A: There's no such thing as unheats. First it could be the gauge. When was the last radiator was flushed last? Try a new flush with new coolant, check ratings for hot and cold temps., take it for a spin and see if that's the problem first before spending money on others solutions. If the guage still reads the same check your car book to located if there's a fuse for the gauge and replace that if blown. Could be that easy.

hey guy I just went out to the dealer and find myself an S6 and the price is 27,999G should i get the S6 and how much should i get it for????? help me out i test drive it love it but the price is too high
PS how much to the dealer is a decents price?
it 50K mils forgot about that
A: you cant judge a car company with how one dealer handled your car deal. i'm an audi technician and both cars you have mentioned are great cars. make sure you are buying your car from an audi dealer and not a used car lot and make sure it is audi certified, meaning it has been checked over. audis are problem prone, sometimes you get a bad one and sometimes they are prefect but i say its all in how you maintain it. the A6 is a larger sedan than the A4. it all depends on what you want. the A6 in my opinion is more refined than the A4 and provides a more comfortable ride. I work on both these cars everyday and have driven thousands of them. I saw you mentioned the S6. Scratch that off your list. The old S6 is problem prone and you should just stay away from it. They are rare and expensive and you are much better off with a newer A4 or A6. Bottom line, if you take care of it, dont beat on it, and maintain it like it should be, you should have no problems. feel free to ask me any more questions. good luck.
Q: Which Ipod adapter for my 2003 Audi A6?
I want to fit my 30gb ipod into my A6. I am not to worried about driving the ipod from the radio controls (Symphony2) but I do have the following requirements.
The unit must power on and off with the ignition
The click wheel must remain active while docked
Ideally the ipod will pause automatically if I switch the head unit to radio or CD.
Does anybody have any experience with similar interfaces or can offer any advice?
A: A company called Mobile Entertainment Solutions in Birmingham supply the Connects2 range and they do an interface which will plug into the Symphony's CD changer port. If you have a changer fitted though you will lose this. Alternatively they do an FM modulator which is pretty good too.
Q: Transmission for my 2003 A6 3.0 audi broke down at 43.000 where can i find a replacement for....?
at 43.000 miles my audi 2003 A6 3.0 fwd broke down
warranty expire a year ago
what can i do? audi dealer told me that i didnt have transmision oil in, need a new transmission? where can i find one?in USA
cod on transmission 01jCVT wwo
PLS HELP ME..........
A: Very odd. I don't see how your transmission went out at only 43k miles. That is a sealed system and the service interval on that is probably 100k miles.
Did you go to a quick oil change place or have some impact to the transmission fluid pan?
If it was leaking you should have noticed fluid stains or deteriorating performance before it want bad.
You don't say where you live, but most likely the best bet is to have it rebuilt. The shop will need the car for 5-10 days.
They give a quote range based on what they find when they open up the tranny, and if the housing is damaged.
I would try to find a place that specializes in Audi.

Q: How do you change the Ignition Coils on a 2003 Audi A6 Quattro 3.0?
A: Coil packs are fairly easy to remove. Undo the engine covers, and simply unscrew each pack. Make sure the battery is disconnected.
Q: how much transmission oil do I need to put in my Audi A6 2003 quattro, 3.0L?
what is the best transmission oil? synthetic or normal? and how much do I have to put in?
A: 5 liters Pentosin TL-52162 ATF fluid to fill from empty.
only synthetic can be used on audi trannys.
Q: My 2003 Audi A6 2.7t has a hot smell (smells like oil) and I can't tell what is. What might it be?
The car runs perfectly fine, no lights are on, there is no visible leakage under the car but every time I turn the car on it just has this smell that smells like hot oil or metal and I don't know what it is. Might be that there is nothing wrong with the car but I want to make sure. This is my first Audi, car only has 49,000 miles on it and runs great as I said. The temp guage does not show that there is any excessive heat either. What might it be? Might it have anything to do with the fact that it is a turbo?
A: I have a similar problem with my 01 A6 but I know what it is. For one I have over 100k miles on it. It’s time for the 100K tune up which includes new oil gaskets and 2 water pumps at a cost of around $1,500. Next I notice this strongest right after I have an oil change so I think it’s also partially spillage by the techs. I keep a close eye on my fluid level and do not seem to be loosing any oil.
My advice is take notice if this smell is strongest after an oil change? Is it constant? Keep a close eye on the oil level especially during the hot summer days and as you know the Audi gives you oil temperature instead of oil pressure so watch the oil temp closely too.
With the low mileage on the car I doubt it’s anything major, just be aware. Oh have you had your 50K tune up done yet? Good luck.
Q: 2003 Audi A6 Headlights?
I just bought this car with no owners manual. It is loaded with options, but it appears that there is not an option to have the headlights stay on for a moment after the cars is shut off. The headlights will come on and go off with the key at a specific setting, but the parking lights stay on forever.
My 02 Explorer has this option - I would assume the A6 does - doesn't it?
A: Is a German thing. If you park on the side of the road they leave the parking lights on. I was wondering the same thing when I was in Bavaria. Also they have one backup light and one Park Light where the Back Up light is supposed to go on the driver side. I felt stupid when I told my friend's dad that his left side backup light was burned out. At least was in his Toyota Matrix. When you drive on these smalls villages and towns there is hardly any parking, so people park on the side of the road and leave those lights on so you can see the car. Of course, that is for a short while, longer time they find a better place to park.
Good luck :-)
Q: 2003 Audi A6 Oil Dipstick?
I just bought this car, I have no owners manual. I just went to check the oil and the dipstick is nothing like what I have ever seen. There is no ADD of MAX or any other type of indicator?
AUDI OWNERS - How do I know when my oil is low?
Nick B - not even a thank you for the 2 points - A$$hole.
A: On my wife's VW Beetle the engine oil dipstick is a "hard" wire. Is not a blade like most cars are. At the end there is some that looks like a metal plug of some sort with markings saying low , xxxx and full. So, I am assuming if is the same type of dipstick...
1) Someone yanked it out when wiping the dipstick while checking the oil...
or
2) The tip fell in the oil pan (possible but, I doubt).
Q: 2003 Audi A6 3.0 Scheduled Maintenace?
My digital readout is saying service in 1,000 miles. At that point my car will have approx. 87,000 miles. Other than the oil change that will be due at that point, what other maintenance is supposed to be done? Audi people only please.
A: 88k miles is kinda odd for a service interval since oil is every 5000 miles, might be that someone didnt reset the service light when they did it once. Timing belt, water pump... should be done before 100k.
Q: 2003 audi a6 clock?
I just bought this car and I love it. It did not come with an owners manual. I can not figure out how to set the clock in the instrument panel. I am usually pretty good with this thing. Anyone know how to do it?
A: I pretty sure that little twist and pull button you have on your panel is used for setting the clock.
Q: 2003 Audi A6 2.7?
I have just purchased one of these and I love the car. My question is will I need to change to snow tires in the winter months? I live in Wisconsin and snow can be heavy at times. Will the performance tires be ok or should I get snow tires?
The car has brand new tires.
A: Yes, if there is snow you want to get some proper winter tires. High performance tires work very poorly in cold weather, and are pretty much useless on ice. An A6 quattro with ESP on snow tires is an excellent winter vehicle, you should be able to handle pretty much anything.
Here in scandinavia, a lot of vets and other porfessionals run these cars for their excellen vinter capabilities.
