Q: How can I change the auto box oil on my 2004 Audi A6 2.5 TDi quatroGet answers from millions of real people.?
Audi say this can only be done by themselves as refilling is dependent on having special equipment
A: This is mostly true. But you can go to VW / AUDI specialist - as they have the same know how and equipment.
It is difficult to do it yourself or let the quicky lub people to do it.
Also they use Audi special long life oil - that most mechanics do NOT carry.

I know - I have a 2000 Audi A4. I usually do all my maintenance myself.
Good Luck...
Q: I have audi a6 2004 3.0 quattro, strangely when i start the car,not able to open any windows from drivers seat
I have never faced this problem before, its little cold out here and i was wondering is this due to cold weather.I try to open the windows and there is some movement noise in the door but the windows doesnt open at all.
Interestingly when i try to open the windows in the afternoon they work fine.. could be due to cold weather... it was like 21 deg Farhenhiet in the night.
A: There are two possibilities when a window doesnt open:
1.) The motor is broken
2.) The window regulator is broken (which is what happened to me).
Since you hear mechanical noise when you try to open it, its probably the regulator. The regulator is the metal frame that the window is attached to and is moved up and down by the motor. Since you also mention that its cold, the pins that attach the regulator to the motor have been known to crack and break in the cold (which is what happened to me).
Fixing the problem may not be cheap. In an audi dealership they charge 100 bucks just to open the door frame, lets alone the remaining labor and parts. If you know a personal mechanic that works on audi's this is your best bet to do it cheap. You can get audi regulators for about 120-150 bucks online. Labor might take a coupla hours.
EDIT: Yeah, it sounds like some morning dew may have gotten between the weather seal and the window, then froze. It could have melted in the afternoon, freeing the window. Well, at least you dont have a broken regulator
Q: "How to" replace light in headlight - 2004 Audi A6 3.0?
The left front headlight of my Audi A6(non Quattro) burnt out.
I was wondering if this is something that I can do on my own or does a Mechanic have to do this? (because of special tools, or complications removing a bunch of stuff) I am fairly mechanically inclined.
BTW, this bulb that is burnt, is the center bulb, it looks like a smaller version of a "flood light" type bulb. Approximately 3" diameter.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!
A: The lightbulb is under warranty under 4yrs in service date or 50.000 miles so it would be free of charge if you take it to the dealer... If not:
If its a halogen headlight:
Remove housing cover from headlamp housing.
Disconnect electrical connection at bulb.
Disengage wire clamp and remove bulb from housing.
Installation is reverse of removal, noting:
-Insert new bulb into houseing, dont touch glass bulb
with bare hands.
HID Low Beam bulb replacing:
Remove housing cover
Disconnect connector at HID headlamp and retaining ring by
turning counterclockwise.
Installation is reverse of removal, noting
Dont touch bulb with bare hands
Place retaining ring with both notches onto locking lugs
of HID headlamp and then tighten by turning clockwise.
Reconnect electrical connection and close housing.
Ignition off for the whole time and take the key out.
You dont need special tools, don't be afraid, it's not harder
to change it on an Audi than on a Ford. I assume you meant the driver side, the passanger side would be more complicated, as you would have to remove the airduct too.
If it looks like a projector light than its the low beam light.
Good Luck!
Q: what is the average cost of replacing an atlernator in an 2004 Audi A6 S Line?
A: The alternator itself is about $200 so if you think you can do it yourself there you go, if not just add labor.
Q: Can you find me a 2002-2004 Audi A6 4.2 Liter Car for under $11500?
I am searching for cars, and cannot seem to find the one Im looking for..Can you find me an Audi A6 4.2L 2002-2004 car model for under $11,500? Distance is not a problem, I would like the color black, but Im open to other colors..I prefer under 75,000 ..let me know, the best answer will recieve the points, thanks all posts appreciated!!!!!
A: Well, this question sure has the merit of being very specific, this is also the way I shop for a car!
There are some great online resources you could check out. They might set you back the membership fee, but well worth the money because in return you get choice, lose less time, get more security and a lot less hassle.

Q: 2004 Audi A6-Transmission issues?
I just purchased an A6. It is under warranty. I called the dealer because when it downshifts into first gear, it is not smooth all the time and almost jerks downshifting. Also, I park on a incline, when i put the car in gear, it actually rolls backwards before i can give enough gas to move the car forward. When I told the dealer about this, he said with the FWD A6 tiptronic tranny, this is they way they are. I am still taking it in next week to have them look at it, but just wondering if any one else has had this experience with an A6? Thanks.
A: try vwvortex.com and look under AUDI chat forum.
There you will find lots of answers.
Q: Audi A6 s-line 2004 Bose Stereo upgrade, after the fact?
My burning question is this. I purchased a 2004 A6 s-line. The car has the Symphony II head unit. I have owned 4 Audi's, and only because of this experience, I purchased this car recently from a dealer online. The car came with the "premium" stereo, not the Bose. I had the Bose system in my last Audi, that an uninsured motorist took from me last August. Anyway, I am wanting to change out the speaker system. I was wondering if this is possible. I have found a complete donor system and was wondering the complexities of switching out the system. Is it a compatable plug in. Basically I am asking if I could take out the current speaker and sub and put in the Bose with out a bunch of splicing? Will the Bose system recognize the head unit or vice verse? Help me, I know that I am missing out on much better sound......... Butch
A: youll have to change out the speakers and the head unit. Bose speakers wont work without the bose head unit.
Q: 2004 Audi A6 Climate Control, "syncing" the passenger and driver temp settings????
Is there a quicker way to sync the driver and passenger temperature settings? For instance, if the driver has the temperature set at 70 degrees, is there a button to hold or a button combination that will automatically make the passenger 70 degrees as well.
I know this sounds lazy, but it can get annoying to set the drivers temp, then the passenger all the time.
I dont have a manual with my car, so I am unable to look it up.
Any information anyone may have would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!
Also, my climate control system only has one "Auto" button, centered above the fan speed controls.
A: hold down the auto buttons on the driver and passeger sides at the same time and this will sync the two sides to match the drivers setting.
Q: any thoughts on a 2004 audi a6 3.0 , @ 34000 mi.?
A: great car, as long as it doesn't have a cvt. the 3.0l was one of their most reliable motors and the 2004 was the last year of the 4 year 50,000 mile bumper to bumper coverage. If I could afford it and it was reasonably priced. I'd definately go for it
Q: what car is faster 2000 audi a6 2.7t or 2004 infiniti g35????
just wanna know before i race lol
A: depends on which g35
quarter mile times:
2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan 6.2-14.8
2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe 5.5-14.2
2004 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan-14.6
and
2000 Audi A6 2.7T-14.5
so theoretically the Audi is faster than the G35 sedans but not the coupe... however id also say it depends on the driver and type of transmission
Q: Is an audi a6 2000 for $4500 with 108,000 a good deal?
What is the life on an audi a6's engine? Is that im getting a good deal? Do you think the car is worth more than the price listed. Are audi a6 cars good. What are the differences between an audi a6 1998 and 2004.
A: The same car that you want to bullet proof?
An audi can last 1,000,000 miles, if you maintain it.
If it breaks anytime before there, it's owner fault. They're only as good as their owners. I've seen cheap Hondas outlast Porsches, just because of how the owner maintained them.
http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/1998-to-2004-audi-a6-3.htm
The list price of $4500 is significantly lower than what it's worth. The miles are completely average, and not even worth mentioning. They work out to around 13,000 miles a year, which is normal.
You could have done this research yourself.
Q: Anybody got any feedback on the Audi A6? I'm looking at a 2004 2.7 Turbo.?
A: I have a 2001 A6 2.7T Quattro and I just can’t give enough praise to this car! It now has a little over 106K miles on it and it’s been dealer serviced all its life. I will be trading it in soon ( I’ll hate to see it go) for a new A6 or I’m even considering the A8 but the A6 seams to better size wise and for what I use it for. I’ve been out test driving the competition and they are all a joke! My high mileage A6 still rides better handles better and just over all performs better than any of its competitors, and I’m talking brand new competitors! Now mind you, as I said mine has been nothing but dealership serviced and it has had a few quirks that have been expensive to repair but nothing major and nothing one would not expect with a car of that age and mileage. Thankfully my dealer has been absolutely outstanding and has worked diligent with me to make sure my car remains in tip top shape without breaking my bank account and in many cases has even repaired items on the car that have long since passed warranty at no charge.
I personally feel you won’t go wrong with an A6 especially if you purchase it from a reputable dealer and a good dealer who has checked over the car and deemed it worthy. Hey and just for grins, drive the A6 your looking at then go try some of it’s so called equals new and pre-owned. I will just about guarantee you they won’t hold a candle to the Audi.
Have fun and hopefully “Welcome to the Audi Family”!
Q: Why I only see Audi A6 1.8T in my country ?
Hi friends;
I live in Turkey city of Istanbul and I am about to buy an Audi A6 1.8T (2003 or 2004) but when I search internet I only see this car in Turkey and a few in England. I could not see a 1.8T engine in an A6 in Germany or in another country. I know we have the most expensive gasoline in Europe but is this the only reason ???
A: Basically yes - by far the most A6's are diesels elsewhere in Europe.
Q: What kind of car (sporty sedan) should I get?
I've been trying to decide what kind of car to get and want some suggestions. I want something that's sporty, classy, reliable, and safe. Also, average mpg greater than 20 would be best. I'll be trading in a 1998 BMW 528i and want a similar car. Would like to keep the price below $30,000 (after taxes and the such). I've been looking at the following:
2004ish Infiniti G35 Sedan
2004 BMW 525i
2004 Acura TL
2004 Audi A6 or A4
2004 isn't the only year I will consider, but I was just thinking about these. Any comments on these choices or suggestions of others?
A: Infiniti G35! Amazing car!!!
Q: 2003 Audi A6 3.0 Wagon with low-miles?
I'm looking at puchasing an Audi A6 3.0 to replace a
A: City (mpg) 18
Highway (mpg) 26 for the '03 Audi A6 Avant Wagon
Reliability is 8.1 of 10
These cars in a way are hard to maintain, A Benz or BMW wouldn't solve your problem either it's not like the wagons they sell are cheap anyway. Maybe a Volkswagon would do you alot better if you like the styling and all in all thier German cars also so thier not bad. Volvo on the other hand isn't that great either, my friend you works at a dealership says people would come back with brand new cars and have major problems with them, so stay away. As for buying a used car make sure that your getting a good deal on it and that your not buying a car that will run into future high cost maintenance
