Q: Audi A8 Reliability? Used?
Is the 2004/2005 Audi A8 L sedan reliable? If you have ever owned one, when did it need the first repairs... 30K miles, 50K miles, 90K miles? Were they expensive? Thanks!

A: According to consumer reports, the Audi A8 has well below average reliability. Like all Audis, they have high maintainance costs. They are also expensive to buy in comparison to most other Audi models, aside from the S and RS series and the new R 8.

Q: which is a better buy, used bmw 645 or audi a8?
they both seem to have significant depreciation. how many years should i wait before buying? i am thinking four to six years old, price about 30-40K.

A: Depends...if its going to be a family car then definitely the a8 because it is a sedan and absolutely amazing if you've been inside one. It is gigantic inside and can be a family sedan for any 4 person family no matter how big you grow. The a8l is really nice with the nav and all that. It looks really nice. The 645 is nice too but may be hard to fit a family in since i think it is only a two door. In the end it is up to you. Hope This Helps

I was debating with my friend, where I stated that Audi (the company) had to pay the 'movie crew' to feature their car, the Audi A8, in the movie - Transporter 2. My friend disagreed and thought it should be vise versa - where the 'movie people' paid Audi a lot to use their car (the Audi A8) in the movie. What do you think?

A: I haven't seen it, but I read about Audi being featured. I believe there was an agreement between the companies where Audi paid. Like any other commercial. Sometimes there's cross advertising where they promote each other, in the end though someone usually pays.

A: none of the above. one don't buy an Audi. BMW & MB are good cars but the parts and service are outrageous. over $150 and hour for labor costs. unless your able to do your own work and buy parts online these cars are too expensive to own and repair.

Q: What is the relation between Bentley, Audi, and VW?
I know VW bought Bentley, but do they also own Audi?? I was driving my new W12 A8, and i thought VW and Bentley were the only companies that used W12 engines. And while driving, the cars are almost identical (the Audi A8 and Bentley Continental Flying Spur) Whats the scoop?!?!

A: Audi is owned by VW and has been for nearly 40 years. They bought Bentley about 5 years ago, as well as Lamborghini, Skoda, and Seat. They also bought Porsche shortly after Audi and now only own 20% of it. They also bought Bugatti right before the Veyron debuted for production. Also, Audi's B9 (not a model name) platform that they are using for the 2009 Audi A4 is used on the VW Passat and shortened for the Jetta. The Audi A6 model is used for the Q7 which shares it's platform with the VW Toureag and the Porsche Cayenne. The Audi A8 is the Phaeton and the Phaeton was discontinued at the end of 2006. The A8L platform is used for the Bentley Continental Flying Spur. The A8 W12, Phaeton and Toureag W12, and the Bentley Continental models use the Audi and Volkswagen co-produced W12 engine. W12 is a trademark of Volkswagen AG and its affiliates Audi AG. The Audi S6's 450 HP V10 engine is a tuned down version of Lamborghini's Gallardo SE engine.

Q: audi A8, bmw 7series, MBZ S series, Maserati?
I can't decide which one I have to go for... attracted to A8 for its 4WD, but hate the GPS system, BMW for its used car value and populartiy, MBZ for MBZ it is....Maserati for its design outside & inside... A: You are all over the map. Who is going to help you when you bring up mid range production cars and try to compare them to limited production specialty cars like the Maserati. I am a Mercedes owner and fan and would always recommend this Marque for the service and the quality that has been uncompromising for over the long run. BMW and Audi are the latecomers and offer some good products but it is personal choice when you spend the money and buy the product. Research them all and then pick out the one that suits your needs the best.

Q: Audi A6 Overheating problem!!?
I have a mk1 97 plate Audi A8 1.8 SE I put the wrong anti-freeze in it recently and it has caused the car to over heat and constantly produce pints of this thick brown sludge! The mechanic says it's the anti-freeze I should have used G12 anti-freeze that is required to be used in Volkswagens and Audi's, as the normal blue stuff causes a chemical reaction that produces this brown sludge and clogs the cooling system. Has anyone else had this problem?? did it cause the oil temperature to sore aswell?? How much do u thionk it will cost to fix??

A: Yes I've dealt with this. The system must be flushed out thoroughly (this what takes all the time) and refilled (at this time you don't have to use G12, you can use any good quality long life anti-freeze). For some reason, there is a chemical reaction between G12 and other types that creates a gel that won't move through the engine.

Q: Which used car is a better deal?
Which car is better for the money? I want to consider such things as: Maintenence costs, performance, luxury features, reliability....so on. Anyone who may have owned on of these please let me know your opinion. 2004 Lexus LS430 or 2004 Audi A8 Thanks in advance

A: Lexus is going to be cheaper all the way around. Audi maintenance is expensive.

Q: lexus bmw or audi? ?
Hi, Im in the market for a slightly used luxury car and the only major criteria are that it needs to be around 25-28k and must have AWD. So far I am considering an '06 Lexus GS300AWD, '05 Audi A6, '04 Audi A8, and '07 BMW 328xi coupe. Most of these are difficult to find at around the price i gave, but not impossible. My question is which is the best overall car and if anyone has perhaps any other suggestions. opinions from owners would be great too.

A: Best AWD and interior design/quality-Audi A8 and A6. Most amount of luxury features-Audi A8. Smoothest and quietest ride-Lexus GS300. Most reliable Lexus GS300. Most fun to drive-BMW 3 series. Best handling-BMW 3 series.

Q: How can I open my car door?
I just purchased a brand new Audi A8 luxury car and I can't open the door. I don't understand how to use the remote door lock so I have to smash a window every time I need to get in. It is quite embarrassing because the alarm goes off and I am forced to drive with the alarm going and my hand bleeding quite badly from the broken glass.

A: oh no. Those foreign cars are so darn confusing! I feel ya on that one K-whatever it is you go by these days. I think perhaps you should use the little keychain button thingy. Really, it will work.

there are some smuggled hotcars here in the philippines like a convertible corvette, audi a8, nissan armada, a few bmws, a lamborgini and some porsches..........those cars will be destroyed i think today because they are smuggled and our president ordered that those hotcars must be destroyed.....................I think our president is not thinking right because she can auction of those hotcars which costs more than 18million pesos and the money can be used by the government for improving our country

Q: Are These Reliable Cars?
Im looking into buying a used car and i like the Audi A8 and Mitsubishi Eclispe but i dont know if they're known for problems or not. What have you guys heard/experienced?

A: I'll bet that this is more like the answer you are looking for... The A8 is a middle of the road for reliability. Not one of the bests, not one the worst either. Same for eclipses. The big difference is that Audi parts will cost twice as much as mitsubishi ones. My Favorite places to get an informed decision are, Consumer Reports and Edmunds.com. Check those out to get a broader opinion.

Q: I'm looking for a new luxary car, not sure what to buy!?
I own three cars at the moment, a 2005 Jeep Wrangler which i use for the desert and going to the beach, and a Nissan Skyline GT-T (its a sport car) 99 model, which i like to modify and i use it for drifting and I have the 98 Toyota camry which I use for the Highways, because my work is like four hours away from the town I'm living in and I work 5 days a week and I drive back for the weekend. I need a luxary car that is attractive and comforts me when I come back for the weekend or I might wanna sell one of my recent cars to buy the car of my dreams. I thought of Escalade, STS-V series and the new Porsche Cayman S. some of my friends pointed at the new GS lexus, the 5 series BMW and the audi A8. and I'm really confused and dunno what to buy.

A: I would say the BMW 6 series. Sporty yet, comfortable. Plus it's large engine and uniqueness may make your purchase stand out. You don't want to be like everyone else. Escalades are not really that hot anymore.

I want to buy an Audi a8 and I prefer the tdi but you can only get them in europe so I would like to know how much it would be to bring a car from europe to VA. Lets assume it is used and costs 7,000$ any info would be great like how to start the ball rolling.

A: Your biggest problem is going to be meeting US safety and emissions standards. The diesel will buy you a bit for emissions, but safety - argh! You will need US safety glass in all the windows, seat belts to US standards, ditto lighting, and bumpers. That's just the starting list. Shipping costs - not as bad as you think - $1500-$2000. Check out the web concerning "gray market" cars. It will give you some idea of what you are in for.

Q: Why when blacks have an expensive car there labeled as a drug dealer?
I'm a west indian who owns a restaurant and have a great job in New York City who always had great financial support from my family. I have a bmw suv, porsche cayenne , and audi a8 in a nice middle class racially mix neighborhood. My parents and grandparents were always financially set and never encountered any hardships even before we came to America. I went to a great high school and just completed college. I never got in trouble and I always work throughout high school and college. I have a lot of friends who are black, white, and asian and also have really nice and even more expensive cars. Why when I drive in rural and suburban neighborhoods I get the worst negative attitudes and must be drugs comments from white ppl because of what i drive. Where I'm from in all the islands and even london where I used to live I never experience that. I know racism exists everywhere but passing judgement on a vehicle you drive that's completely stock no rims is ridiculous.

A: is the culture, and I feel for you, my wife is west indian, and the way they got money, not her her family all comes through illegal ways, I know it, and now they play decent, you are not like that, dude, my father in law was a drug dealer before he owned 5 taxis, her sister is soo cute she won two houses and happily married now, ex stripper, her borther he drives a lexus now married, ganag member in passive status. plus there is alot of racism here,, plus look at your community here, in no other place int he world blacks are soo aggressive, and you guys are proud of that, why we have technology and education to improve, not to go back to the ape, you are different how many of your people will beat you up jsut because you talk properly, how many black guys go to jail? about 60%of the males, and for blacks being a drug dealer is nice, you get women, they dont care where the money come from, as long as u get it, just be proud of what you have, you know you didnt sell cocain, you know your mom is decent and you know your father worked his ass off, if I were you I will curse them out and say how you get it or just shutt,,, and ignore it
