Q: What is the best performance chip for an Audi S4 B5/year 2000?
A: Performance chips are mostly based on subjectivity. Unless you really really want that extra 1% increase, you can choose from GIAC and APR.
I would go for GIAC only because there are two settings on the chip that will allow you to go back to your original software in case you need to pass your smog test and can't.
Q: Is the 2000-1002 Audi S4 reliable? Is it worth buying for $10000?
A: 10k is pretty good depending on the miles and condition of the car. As for reliability it all depends on how the car was maintained. If all services has been done properly and you continue to do this then the car should still perform well for you. I have the same style A4 and couldnt be happier with it. Just make sure that the turbos havent gone bad and that water pump, belts... have been done if the car is approaching 90k miles.

Q: buying an audi s4?
i want to buy a audi s4 its a 2000 93000 and its auto runs and sounds grate drive amazing shifts good are there troble roads ahead ? timeing belt ? water pump turbos and shuch i dont have too much chas to be doing all this but i do at least do ti my self but is it hard to work on this car i mean iv done a lot to a 90 camaro that wasnt easy at all but is this worth the price at 9995 with the miles so hi at 93000 and the work it seemed relible but is it? i realy need help
A: Thats not really a bad price for the miles. It can get expensive it you dont do the work yourself since there is a lot of labor involved. For example your coming up on some regualr maintenance at 100k. That usually runs about $1000 for timing, water pump..... ect. This is because you have to take off the whole front clip to change everything.
If you can do most of the work yourself I would recommend the car. I have a '98 A4 (same body style) and love it. Its decently fast, but not S4 fast. good luck.

Q: What kind of car would you get...?
if you where in my possition. I'm looking at buying a car and was wondering if you would get a 2000 audi S4 or an 03 subaru WRX? and give a reason why?
i dont want an american car like the crap one i have now that breaks down every 2 seconds
A: The Subaru is a VERY RELIABLE car....
It's much more reliable than most domestic crap.
I would take the WRX, it's safe, reliable, very fast....it's not like the S4, but it still has so much performance for the money.
The S4 is what you would expect a German Sports sedan to be, but it would be way more expensive to maintain and repair.
Q: Is this a good price, and do you think its kinda of shady for this S4?

Q: car loan/credit score/age...?
I am 20 years old and have been working at the same place for 2 years and at another place for 3 months. I have a credit score of 706 and I just applied for a car loan for a 2001 Audi s4. I am putting $1000 down and I gross about $2000 a month from work. I have no other debt but have taken out a personal loan, which I paid off. The loan would be for $9000. Doe anyone know if Ill get it? what do you think
A: A 706 is a pretty good credit score! And if you have other tradelines- the personal loan, maybe a credit card account, you should be able to get it. The only thing I might be concerned about is your DTI (debt to income) ratio. It may be on the higher end. But don't worry, because even if you don't get approved by traditional financing outside of the dealership, you can always refinance the loan at a later time. Try a credit union before financing at a dealership... they are pretty good about working with their customers and have the best rates. And make sure you're getting an auto loan and not a personal loan because personal loans gouge you with high rates. Good Luck!!! And congrats on your credit score- very few people at 20 years old have such a high score!!!!
Q: How about this? (E38 7'ers opinions needed!)?
Alrighty I'm thinking about getting a 2000-2001 740i/iL. I'm looking at a 2001 740i Sport Package with 87k miles on it for $9k. It's a pretty damn good deal.
This next car, whichever I may buy, will be my second car. I'm 16, 17 soon and Geico quoted me $150 a month for it, MUCH better than my old Audi S4.
I am looking for people who have experience with the E38 platform and what they think of it and how it has treated them.
Please don't give me the shenanigans about young drivers, which I have seen all over this forum. I have plenty for college etc, I'm NOT here for a lecture, trust me.
Also, it seems like it has some good upgrade potential (Supercharger, Exhaust, Etc)
It has all service records, clean title.
A: Ugh, the first guy is way off. I bought a '97 740i when I was 16 for 10 grand because I just really really wanted a BMW. It does NOT feel like a big car when you drive it at all, it handles like it's on rails, it's quiet and comfortable, it's pretty freakin' fast for it's relatively low horsepower and high weight, and (in my opinion) the 2001 740i Sport is the most beautiful sedan to ever grace this planet. Anyway, I only kept the car for about a year because I had so many problems with it (blown water pump, some electrical doohicky that went bad and cost $300 to fix, compression problems, doors wouldn't ever shut when in below freezing temperatures, etc.) but I didn't exactly maintain it properly to say the least.
By 2000, BMW had most of the bugs worked out of the E38 and they probably don't have as many problems. Get this car checked out by a certified BMW mechanic and check all of the service records to make sure everything looks ship-shape. If everything is clear and the car is good, buy it and maintain it properly so it won't crap out on you. It can't be any more trouble than an Audi really.
As for upgrade potential, I wouldn't do much. I've seen videos on YouTube of the 740i with Eisenmann and Remus exhausts and they sound amazing, but I'd avoid doing anything big like a supercharger. It just sounds like trouble to me, especially with a car as finicky as the E38.
Good luck.
