Q: Can a Audi s4 2002 engine or RS4 2005 engine be used to replace the engine in a 2002 Audi A4 3.0 quattro sport?

A: Firstly, the RS4 was not produced in the year 2005, and even if it were, it would be the wrong chassis... Secondly, it is possible to swap an A4 3.0 engine for a S4 engine, but it does not make much sense in the long run. Assuming that you are paying for labor to have the engine swapped (not doing it yourself), the cost of selling your car and then buying a used S4 would be cheaper. Also, it would save you a headache from the other parts that you would have to swap out...youll need to change to the 6-speed box, swap out the drive shaft and parts of the suspension, and the hardest part- finding a loom from an S4, just to name some of the process... Honestly, unless you can find a VERY cheap engine and drivetrain AND are planning to do all the work yourself, selling your A4 and buying an S4 would be a more cost-effective solution to your problem... But those swaps have been done before, so if you decide to go with it, good luck and have fun

Q: Which used car would you prefer(for same $)? 06 Audi S4 with ~30k miles or 07 328i coupe with ~20k miles ?
AWD and HP of Audi is really tempting (also the S badge), but ppl say BMW is truly a better handling car. I've had A4 before and liked the solidness, but never driven a bimmer before.

A: It's up to you and what you want. You are comparing a one year older sport version with 10k (25%) more miles to a newer, non-sport version. The S version of the Audis and the M-version of the BMWs are performance-tuned models of their base models. Very performance oriented, stiffer ride, more power, better handling, and a bit more expensive to maintain than the standard A4 / 3-series. If you live in an area with winter driving AWD will make your life a lot easier; chains are no fun to put on. People dont say the BMW is a better handling car in the snow and rain! I strongly suggest you _drive_ both and compare. If the driving test doesn't sell you on the S4, buy the newer car with less miles. If you want the AWD but dont care about the performance of the S model, look at A4s.

Q: Looking at used a Audi? Anyone got one?
I'm looking for used cars and I found this sleek Audi S4 Sedan. Test drove it and it seems to ride great. It had about 96,000 miles going for around 10K. Anyone have this car? Suggestions? Anything is appriciated.

A: That is a low price for the car i would expect to have a few repairs they are a great car but can be expensive to maintain. fun to drive and fast. learn to do as much of you own maintenence as possible and you will probably love this car. If you take it to the dealer for every little thing it will dime you to death. i would buy the car and maintain it myself. The link below is a good place to get answers about the car and what maintence it will need.

Q: 07 Audi s-line wagon or used 06 s4 wagon?????

A: If you find a good conditioned used 06 model then I would recommend you jump into that. Have you looked around or asked a dealer if there are still new 06 S4 wagons on the lots as they may have some big incentive programs to move these year end models. If there is not a lot of price difference between a 07 model and a used 06 then I would jump into a 07 model this way you get 1 more year warranty and as well you know how it has been treated. Good Luck

Q: can you use a audi 2002 b6 a4 1.8Lt k&n intake filter on a 2004 audi b6 s4 4.2L v8 ?
can you use a audi 2002 b6 a4 1.8Lt k&n intake filter on a 2004 audi b6 s4 4.2L v8 ?

A: No, two totally different intake systems.

Q: 2000 Audi S4 as a weekend car?
I've researched and found some rather disturbing stories about how unreliable these cars are and how expensive it can be to repair. Just looking for additional opinions. I've heard a few encouraging stories as well but the horror stories seem to be the ones that stick in my head and making me question such a purchase. I have an 04 Accord I use daily. The S4 would serve as a weekend car only and for trips to Tahoe for snowboarding. How many of you would do this?

A: You will love your car! I agree with Eric. It can be a little expensive to maintain, but if they are well maintained, there is not too much of a repair bill. I was also pleasantly surprised with the gas mileage on mine, 6-speed would get about 33 mpg on longer trips. (10-12 in hard driving situations!) I have purchased 2 used S4’s over the years. I was very happy with my second one. I have learned that the local Audi dealership will do an inspection on your car for about $100 and will check out the car, and give you an estimated bill to bring it up to standards. Here is the key, Your Audi dealership can look up all the services performed on the car at any dealership. So, you can find out if the previous owner bothered with scheduled maintenance, or decided to skip it! Well worth the $100 for the information.

Q: Which used Audi should I buy?
Im in the lookout for an Audi that is definitely: 1. Used 2. Manual shift 3. 93 and upwards 4. Budget of about 6K-7K 5. Reasonably good gas mileage I would like a model which had a history of LEAST maintenance problems. I dont care about 1. Power 2. Model e.g A4, A6, S4 etc Which Audi should I be looking out for? Any pointers are appreciated. Thank you

A: i would go with the A4 ,the newer the better.the newer a4's are just built to last much longer.U have to be careful with old Audi's .if they were not maintained properly...the car will kill you mechanics fees.Buy a used Audi from an Audi dealer would be your best bet. But you will love your audi!

Q: Where can I get a used 99'-01' audi 2.8 liter engine?
my engine seized, looking for a replacement at around 2500, or less. Or even a used 99' - 02' s4 engine might do.

Q: 2007 Audi S4 rattling sound when taking off from stop - knocking?
I have a manual 6-speed 2007 Audi S4 I bought 4 months ago. Lately I've noticed a rattling sound coming from the front of the car, just as I'm engaging the clutch when taking off from a stop. It sounds a bit like something metal is loose and banging against something else. The sound stops almost immediately (after a second or two), as I accelerate. It only happens just as I'm taking off. Could this be knocking/pinging, and is it something I should have looked at right away? (I always use 91 octane gas, by the way).

A: If it is or even if it isn't the best course of action is to take it take it to the Audi dealer their warranty covers everything in my experience. It could be two possible things , either the clutch is about to go or is out of lubricant or adjustment. Or it could be something as simple as what brand of fuel you are using. Try 93 Octane, and have the Injectors Flushed. you will see it will come alive on the open road. My 3.2 TT runs " Balls to the Wall" on Mobil or Sunoco V-power. But if I put in Valero or Citgo fuel it will run like it's an anorexic on a diet.

Q: Is California gas guzzler tax implied on used vehicles?
Bying certain new cars in CA one may get hit with gas guzzler tax, i.e. 2007 Audi S4 $ 1,700. How is that if one intends to buy a used vehicle. Is the gas guzzler tax then again implied and, if so, is it added after the negotiated price incl. sales tax or will the tax be taxed as well with sales tax (kinda double taxed). Please clarify the taxing situation for me. Thanks in advance

A: APplied, not implied. And no, it isn't. That's just for new vehicles. It's just sales tax and/or registration.

Q: Audi A4 and S4 owners only, question for you...?
Would you recommend your vehicle? I am thinking about buying a used, 2004 or 2005 A4 or S4... thoughts on repair costs? mileage? ups and downs of owning one? Any input would be greatly appreciated. (oh, I will definitely be getting the Quattro AWD, and the 1.8T or larger engine in mine!)

A: I own a 2004 S4 and love it! I would recommend it over and over again. The broad torque band, The firm hug of the Ricarro leather seats, the sound of the engine singing at 6000 RPMs, the confidence and control of Quattro... sorry I started to drool a little. Seriously though, my S4 is my baby and I love it. I would recommend it to anyone. If you are not concerned with performance, I would recommend an A4. As far as costs of maintenance/repairs. They are pretty reliable. If you buy a 2004 or 2005 it will still be under factory warranty, as long as it doesn't have more than 50K. The factory warranty in those years covers more things than their present new car warranties (brakes, interior trim, etc.). If you buy it from an Audi dealer, you can get it Certified Pre-Owned. That will give you another 2 years of factory warranty (up to 100K). The maintenance is fairly costly. Oil changes are expensive, but come at 10,000 mile intervals. If you get an S4, you have a lifetime timing chain, meaning no expensive timing belt change to worry about. Repairs are mostly minor and usually covered by warranty. Bottom line: If you are looking for a great car and are willing to take care of it, an A4 or S4 would be a great choice.

Q: should i get a 2006 audi s4 or a 2007 chevy avalanche?

Q: Can anyone give me some recommendations on a FAST, REALIABLE used/new car that i can buy for under 22k? ?
It definitely has to be realiable and fast. I was thinking of an audi s4 or a lexus 350. Any other ideas?

A: I can think of some that are all under $20k. Here are 25 ideas in no particular order (my apologies if some of the listings have been removed): 1) Dodge Neon SRT-4 (MOPAR Stage 2 or 3 kit makes it really fast-FWD) This car is about the best "bang for the buck" for an inexpensive performance car 2) '95-'02 Chevy Camaro Z28 or SS (get the V8, not the V6-RWD) 3) Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-X (AWD) A very fast one: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=242334419&dealer_id=62385099&car_year=1997&model=ECLIP&num_records=25&adMake=MIT&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1990&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&fuel=&adBodyStyle=&body_code=0&listingPriorityPremium=true&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&ct=u&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=MIT&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&adModel=ECLIP&drive=&listingCounter=0&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=28326&advanced=&end_year=2000&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=634 4) Toyota MR-2 Spyder (RWD) The MR-2 Spyder is slow, but it gets good fuel economy, and with a turbo or more powerful engine can be made to be fast, as it's quite light. 5) BMW E46 M3 (RWD) 6) Mazda MX-5 Miata (the new model with exposed headlights-RWD) This one isn't fast either, but it's a RWD car, making it better for power increases. However, it's more difficult to give a bigger engine or whatever, because that will most likely mess up the weight balance. Also, the new model is available with a convertible hardtop, which I think is pretty cool. 7) '93-'95 Mazda RX-7 (twin turbo-RWD) 8) Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (RWD) Here's a fast one: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=242334737&dealer_id=62385731&car_year=1996&num_records=100&model=300ZXTURBO&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1990&engine=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&ct=p&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=NISSAN&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&position=top&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=28326&advanced=&end_year=2000&transmission=&doors=&max_price=&cardist=1047 And another: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=244801830&dealer_id=62628449&car_year=1991&num_records=100&model=300ZXTURBO&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1990&engine=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=NISSAN&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&position=top&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=28326&advanced=&end_year=2000&transmission=&doors=&max_price=&cardist=653 9) Infiniti G35 10) '04-'06 Pontiac GTO (RWD) 11) Mitsubishi Lancer Evo (AWD) 12) Subaru WRX STi (AWD) Both of these (11 & 12) are fast, handle well, and can take power increases fairly well. After all, they're essentially street-legal rally-cars. 13) MazdaSpeed3 (FWD) 14) 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS (turbo-FWD) 15) Dodge Caliber SRT-4 (FWD) A more refined car than the Neon SRT-4, this one is also heavier and not quite as fast, but still quick. 16) Mercedes C32 AMG (RWD) 17) Mercedes C55 AMG (RWD) 18) Audi S4 (RWD) 19) Audi S6 (RWD) 20) Subaru WRX (AWD) 21) Nissan 350Z (RWD) 22) Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 (RWD) 23) Honda S2000 24) Mustang GT (RWD) 25) Mazda RX-8 (RWD) More sub-$30k cars: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/sports_car_central/ most_fun_for_25_000_feature And more: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/sports_car_central/the_quickest_cars_of_2007_25_000_to_30_000_feature+page-2.html A few 0-60 times: GMC Typhoon: 5 seconds or less GTO: about 4.7 seconds. M3: About 4.5 SRT-4: 5.5 MazdaSpeed3: 5.5 2008 Cobalt SS (turbo): 5.5 Audi S4: About 5 seconds Audi S6: 6 seconds or less Mercedes C32 AMG: About 4.8 seconds Camaro Z28: 5.5 The Camaro SS is probably faster than the Z28. 350Z and G35: Lower 5-seconds range The SRT-4 can decrease that sprint to below 5 seconds with a MOPAR Stage 3 kit, while a Stage 2 will make it run low-5s, probably. The Miata and MR-2 Spyder both get from 0-60 in the 7-second range, I believe. All of these can be tuned to be faster than they are already, of course. If I were looking for a sub-$20 car to fix up and make faster (and if I wasn't too concerned about fuel economy), I think I'd take something like one of the Mercedes AMGs, because they are pretty quick, comfortable, have adaptive suspension, and having a Mercedes AMG is both classy and cool. I hope thi

Q: Do most Families that know how to drive a manual transmission all drive sticks?
Does any other families around the country do the same? Mom made us kids learn how to drive a stick. She use to race them Porsche's you know... But everyone in my family drives some sort of stick shift, and we are spread out across the country. My parents are closer to 70 and I see know Buicks in thier future! Parents cars: Mom; 2004 Audi S4 6spd and 1996 Porsche 911-993 Turbo s (last of the air-cooled engines!) Dad; 2007 Saab 9-3 60th anv. sport sedan 6spd I drive; 2002 Honda Civic Coupe EX 5spd, 1967 Oldsmobile 442 4spd, Girlfriend sold a BMW 540i 6spd bought it Texas sold for a Honda CRV. Twin Brother in Colorado drive a 2005 Nissan Xterra, sister in law drives a 2008 Acura TSX 6spd Younger brother and wife; 2007 Subaru Outback wagon with 5spd, 2005 Lexus LX470(auto), 2002 Honda Civic lx sedan 5spd and a 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 with 4spd. younger sister just moved to North Carolina and bought a Acura TSX 6spd.

A: Most people in families like yours are apt to learn to drive a stick. After you drive for awhile, and if really enjoy driving for driving, I think you might also prefer a standard. I prefer a stick over an auto, just because of the enjoyment and thrill of driving it.

A: Try Audi R8 :) or A3 2.0 TFSI for acceleration or 2.0 TDI for economy of fuel and a lot of power at low RPM.
