Q: How to add ATF after replacing 2003 Audi TT transmission pan?
My daughter ran over something and crushed the 6speed automatic transmission pan. I am buying a new pan and filter. Without buying a specialized tool, how do I get the ATF into the transmission? There is no top stick or filler hole. The fluid apparently must be added through the bottom drain plug. Is there an easy and non-messy way to do this?
A: The fill hole is on transmission differential housing just below the fluid cooler and by the axle shaft insert. Use Torx T55 to remove the the plug.
The plug on the transmission pan is called overflow plug. Use it to check trans fluid level. The drain plug is at the bottom center of the transmission body. Look at the new transmission pan, you know what i mean.
Without special tool you have to fill it from the fill hole (make sure you remove the plug from overflow tube from the pan first). Check the fluid level after shift through all gears then leave it in Park and engine running idle. Wait until fluid stops flow out from overfill tube. ATF fluid temperature must be between 80'F to 120'F. It takes around 5 quarts (may be less if you just remove the pan without remove the drain plug)
You can fill the fluid from the overfill tube by pumping. Hand pump will not work well in this TT.
Q: Im thinkin about getting a 2003 audi TT turbo? Are there any things i should be worried about?
What about maintenance, are these usually pretty dependable cars? Do they hold up.
A: The parts are expensive so if you wreck it, your wallet will shrink. Who ever said its RWD has no idea what they are talking about becuase i dont think audi makes a car that is RWD. They have FWD and of course Quattro. (which is in your best interest) the audi AWD systems are the best in the world so no need to worry there. Watch out for the CVT transmission. Aviod it. it would take me a while to explain it in technical terminology so just take my advise and aviod that. There DSG ( or paddleshifting multitronic) system is decent but not so quickly responsive so if u can drive a manual transmission, it will be much more fun. the only other thing i can think of is space. Its a tiny car. Also, if your a calm driver then go for a convertible. If your going to power this thing up with engine mods invest in the coupe/roadster becuase the convertables can not take that kind of power. this is a small and light car so if you drive very agressivly all the time and are launching the car from a start with the pedal to the floor. after a long time your going to have to pay for realighnments in the steering and the chassis will have an unnoticable bend. but i wouldnt worry about that becuase after 1999 audi's generaly toughend up and stopped having that problem. Once you hit 80k to 100k miles your gonna have to start looking for a new car. so if you plan on keeping this for more than 3 or 4 years. manage a good upkeep on it. other than that. audis are great. safe. and relyable cars. have fun!
Q: What can i do to get my 2003 audi TT turbo to 60 mph faster?
My brother barely gets me with his trailblazer SS. im lookin for a simple upgrade to beat him.
A: headers intake exahust lighter pulleys ecu chip cam gear tubo boost controller to boost up the psi theres alot of things you can do to modify it to make it faster
Q: I need to replace the center storage console in my 2003 Audi TT without going to the dealer?
A: Do it then, it should just be a matter of changing out some plastic pieces.
Q: what does the 's' emblem on the 2003 audi TT coupe mean?
i think it means sports edition, but what does the sports edition entail? what does the sport's package mean? are they the same thing?
A: its called s line .. just a sport version of the TT ..
Q: 2003 audi tt dipsticks?
are the dispticks for the quattro and fwd models interchangeable?
A: Yes. Same engine size. To the previous poster, a quattro drivetrain does not have a transfer case. It's all wheel drive full-time, as opposed to four wheel drive which is part-time.
Q: What type of gas does a 2003-2004 Audi TT use? Premium or Regular?
A: This is a relatively small engine producing a lot of power, a non turbo engine can retard the timing to lower the maximum cylinder pressure, the turbo engine has a lot less leeway in this regard. Use only premium. I would also strongly recommend using synthetic oil, the turbo produces a lot of heat, the synthetic oil will give you more high temperature protection.
Q: What are the pro's and con's of owning a used Audi TT 2000-2003 models?
A: with the lemon i have theres no way i could see any con's
Q: I heard the older Audi tt (2001-2003) lacks in performance...?
Is this true and what year did the engine change?
A: I think you mean the shift in mid 2003 when Audi went from a non VVT to a VVT engine in its 225 TT (great car by the way my mom has one-2002 non VVT). This modification did not change the car's performance numbers very much but it did keep the car more up to date on technology. The VVT engine is better for tuning than its non VVT counterpart.
VVT means variable valve timing, a way of adjusting the intake valve timing, which optimizes the engine's performance. I don't think you could tell the difference unless you added a stage 3 turbo system or something similar.
Q: Is there a better luxury sports car for the price of a audi TT?
I'm looking into getting a Audi TT coup quattro 2003-2006 for around 15k. And was wondering what other options are available in this same year, body style and price range? It must have leather seats, and a turbo engine.
Hmm I do like the look of the G35 coupe,
Thanks ill look into it more

don't buy an Audi.
very expensive to own and repair.
a few owner reviews:
This year the clutch went out, NOT UNDER WARRANTY, cost me $2200, last month. This month: two days ago, no power, I had to drive it home, short distance, at 20 mph, at one point I took my foot off the gas and it kept going. Service dept. doesn't have a clue, yet
Have had problems with excessive oil use & engine problems, windows don't always work, inside breaking and ripping.Like the looks, but disappointed in the mechanics of this car. Feel like I have had problems with 1 thing or another since we got it.
I have had more problems with this car than any other I have previously owned. The car is loaded with accessories that seem to malfunction. I tend to visit the Audi dealership at least one per month the have repairs done to this car. The engine is underpowered for a car of its price, and the acceleration is comparable to a family sedan. Break dust is another nuisance with this car...be prepared to spend time getting very closely aquainted with your wheels as you will be spending a great deal of time trying to keep them clean.
Overall Review:
As far as looks go, this car is quite appealing. However, I believe that Audi needs to boost the base engine on the car. The last thing anyone wants is a sports car that performs like a 4-door sedan. The instrumentation in this car is very well done. However, overall the quality of the car is lacking. Over the course of 2 years i have had constant problems with this car...ranging from window malfunctions, engine light constantly illuminating, signal lights not working, mirrors vibrating too much, ignition coil malfunctioning, etc. A lot of these aren't serious, but they are a distraction as you are having to constantly go to the dealer for repairs.

Q: What is draining car(Audi TT) battery?
I have a 2003 Audi TT (45000 miles). For last few days my battery goes out automatically every night and then I have to jump start it. After switching the car off I can hear something running inside the hood.....from a closer look it seems like something related to engine cooling system...may be a water pump?
Please help me if you know something about this....I have heard that this car shares a lot with other Volkswagens.
1) What do you think is the problem?
2) Can i fix it myself?
3) How much will it costs?
4) Alternate solutions?
Thanks for you help.
Battery is only 1 year old and in good condition
A: It could be the After-Run Coolant Pump! YEP they run after you shut the car off to help cool the turbo! If they relay is sticking that could be your problem. Unless you have a factory scantool or VAG-COM you should take it in for service.
Q: What is the best year Audi TT?
I'm thinking about getting a Audi TT and wanted to know hwat year I should look into getting?
I've heard the 2003 year for the Audi TT was horrible.. Also that the TT take a lot of up keep and have a lot of problem's i.e water pump and so on go out all the time.
Budget $10k-$15k
What other cars are available in this price range that have a turbo engine?
A: I think between 04-08 you should be good... I have a 05 Audi A4 and its perfect.. The audi TT was named at one time one of the sexiest cars
Q: Is it worth having the Audi dealer do the 60,000k service?
I have a 2003 Audi TT which is no longer under warranty, so the dealer will charge me for service. Is it worth having the dealer do the 60K service, or am I better of going to a Audi shop?
A: as long as whoever works on it knows what they're doing and checks all that they need to check, I don't think it matters, personally I trust my mechanic over the dealership people, but that's me
Q: Audi TT tranny swap?
I have a Audi TT 2003 1.8L FWD Automatic. Does any one know of a shop that could get and install a manual tranny on it? Do you know about how much it would cost? Also once I got that upgrade I know I would be pretty set on upgrading power so where could I get the best aftermarket stuff like air intake, turbo, etc. Please help.
A: It would be cost prohibitive to attempt this change. I would guess $5000.00 plus. My recommendation would be to sell this car and purchase a 225 HP TT Quattro with a 6 speed manual trans.
Q: Any experience with an Audi TT ?
I love the way this car looks and drives. I want to buy a 2001-2003 TT quattro, does anyone have any good or bad experiences with this car?
A: they are great cars and are fun to drive the quattro makes them a year round sports car and are just as fun to drive on snow and ice (sometimes more) as they are in the summer. The biggest thing to watch for on these cars is leaks and engine oil sludge. if you get a car that is certified or from someone that has maintenance records you should be fine as far a sludge goes just make sure ONLY synthetic oil was used and that they followed a 5000 mile oil change schedule (not a 7500 or 10000 mile). as for the leaks they are somewhat common on higher mileage Audi's but they are not that expensive to have fixed (i had all the transmition seals on my A6 replaced and new fluid put in for a little over $500 at 135K miles and thats just because i'm anal they did not need to be done yet only one had very slow leak)
these are a great sports car and probably one of the only ones i would drive year round.
