Q: Can Use VW Engine Parts On My Audi?
I Have a 1.8L Turbo Audi TT, and im having trouble finding stuff for it (like a blow off valve for example) but im finding it easy to find one for a VW with the same engine (like a turbo jetta) Can I install a part for a VW 1.8T part on my audi 1.8T engine?
A: The Audi TT is built on the same exact platform as a '99-2005 Golf/Jetta/Beetle, and the engines are the same. The differences in performance between the VW 1.8T (150-170HP) and the Audi 1.8T (225HP)is a more agressive chip mapping and that Audi uses two intercoolers on the TT. The Golf/Jetta has only one.
The 1.8T in your TT is pretty much the same engine in the A4 and Passat as well, except for small differences between the motor mount positions, exhaust and intake, due to its being mounted inline (north to south) in the A4, whereas the TT uses a transverse mounted (east to west) engine.
Q: Will an Audi TT be a good buy for me?
I curently have a 99vw beetle and I am thinking about getting an audi tt between a 01 and 03. It will be my only car and I do drive a lot ( about 12 to 13k a year). As I have heard that a tt is nothing but a dressed up beetle, will maintecen and parts be far off from what I pay for my beetle now? Is it reliable? Do you think this will be a good choice for me?
I will admitt, I have had some issues with my beetle, but I can atually afford to fix it! Will that be the case with the tt or will it cost drasticly more?
A: The TT is named for a car named after the Tourist Trophy, a race on the Isle of Man. Most of them are not turbo, and none of them have factory twin turbo.
If you have a 99 VW (notorious as just about the worst year for water-cooled VWs) and you're actually OKAY with that, you probably won't be disappointed by a TT. They aren't known as the most reliable cars in the world, but they won't be any worse than your Beetle.
It's based on the same platform as the Beetle, but the suspension is different, the fit and finish should be a bit better, and the engine options, even when they're closely related, are all more powerful than their most closely related Beetle options.
Oh, and of course, the TT has available AWD, the VW doesn't.
Q: is it hard to find car parts or fix an audi?
I have an 05 audi tt
A: let me set it this way. you can find anything you need very cheap!. but you have to be specific . if you do this on your own you can save much more. good news 1rst. audi has factory in usa and mexico. so shipment it wont be that bad. there is a trick now that you will save so mush money if you find the way. the most imitation parts are producing from the same factory and they are much cheaper. the only difference is the one says "audi" and the other .. not. if you find the way and get it (needs a lot of hours online) you will get anything , half price. (not mechanic parts.). mechanic parts my friend you can not do a lot. except if you know a good technician that he will get your car fixed cheap. good luck though ,nice car tt
Q: Audi 2001 TT Repair or Sell As Is question
Audi TT 01 93K miles, needs 5K worth of repair ( Audi dealership estimate) flywheel and crankshaft bad....can't decide to trade in as is, or repair with generic parts and sell back in working condition. Even with generic parts its still assumably an expensive repair.
A: dealler ships sell parts for a lot more then u can get them from individuals. i say repair it then sell it for 12-14k
thats what im doin with mine
Q: mazda rx8 or audi tt 225?
im buying a new car what would be better a rx8 or audi tt i am going to make a street legal race car shall we say i am going to buy after market parts and every thing what car would be better to do this with
A: Hahaha! Neither. Infinity G35. You can fit a RB26DETT skyline motor in there with no chopping. but If I had to chose I'd go with the Audi, Rotary motors are tuff if you dont understand them in the mazda.
Q: 2001 audi TT convertible.... good buy?
I love this car.. It looks so kewl and I've looked on autotrader and I can get one under $15,000 with pretty good mileage... my question tho is.. Are the car payments expensive because I'm looking to only pay between 2 to 300 bucks a month and also is it just expensive maintain it or is it as expensive as any other car.. Also I'm a college student with a part time job...thanx..
A: It truly is a good car. Audi's in general are great cars. If you can afford the payment, then sure go ahead. Make sure you negotiate well and get the best price.
However, German cars are especially expensive to repair, so make sure that you dont blow off service of anything.
Good luck!
Q: Should I get an Audi S4 or a Mach 1 Mustang?
I have been swaying between getting these two cars and they both have thier pros and cons. Audi is more luxury on the inside, and way more tunable with the TT, but is going to be very expensive to maintain in the future. Mach 1 is good old american muscle and i can get one with under 20k miles, and my brother is a ford mechanic, so cheap parts.
A: Depends on what you expect from the car. If I had a long commute everyday I would go with the Audi. If I didn't care about gas mileage and wanted some tire roasting fun, I would go Mach 1.
Q: could someone help me work out what would be the best route to take regarding a car accident please?
Someone has smacked into my car from behind and taken off part of my offside bumper and also smashed my light.Long story but turns out he isnt insured. My car is an Audi TT coupe 3.2 quattro.I dont really want to claim on my insurance as its already sky high.Does anyone have a rough idea of how much it may cost me for repair or whether it could be cheaper to claim from my insurance.I dont know much about it and i dont have a man to help me..Cheers xxx
Shropshire area.
A: Ok.. here's the deal. First.. this accident wasn't your fault so YOU should not have to pay for any of it. I suggest you get 3 quotes from various body shops for a complete repair. Then contact the person who did the damage and tell them to pick one of the repair places that you can meet them at so they can pay for the repairs (upfont). If the do not agree then explain to them that you will be filling two reports. The first will be to your insurance agent who will then have the vehicle fixed and will sue him for the cost plus any legal fees. The second report will be to the police where he will most likely be charged with no insurance and could lose their license.
Remember, you are the victim here. You must seek justice. Do not worry about your insurance cost. If your agent raises your rates after to file the claim, simply change insurance companies. Since the accident wasn't your fault it will not show up on your driving record when the other insurance company looks it up for a quote. Don't let your agent talk you out of filing the claim.
Agents like to tell you they work for you.. but keep in mind that their commissions are based on the number of policies the produce and the ratio claims on those policies. The more claims their policy holder have the less their commission! So they are working for themselves.. NOT for you!
Stick to your guns... get the quotes... give the guy a chance.. if you want.. but then FILE the claim!
Good luck!
PS: You don't need a 'man' to help you! Your perfectly capable of doing all this yourself!
Q: Could I be needing a new turbo in my car...this sound like it?
I have a 2001 VW jetta 1.8T with 123,000 miles
the ECU has be remapped/reprogrammed, this was done about 60,000 miles ago
stock boost would hit 7psi
APR programming hits 18 psi boost
what's happening now is I have to feather the gas keeping the boost under 5 psi or it will shutter and cough ( the boost will not hold) unless.....I floor it...it will hit full boost and hold it but there is no in the middle?
does this sound like my turbo is going?
also I'm thinking about upgrading to one of the Audi TT turbo options which is a direct fit
should I rebuild with Audi TT KO4 tubo parts, buy a used one or get a bigger turbo if I need to
thanks.....
The car was turbo charged factory...it has a small intercooler stock...
yes it could be fuel but then why at low boost and not high boost does it hicup???
I'm still thinking the turbo fins could be bent and need rebuilt
I know a lot about cars but I appreciate any advice and will consider all points and opinions
FYI???
APR Turbo-Back Exhaust is also installed
A: Turbos do not "go". A turbo is dead when the bearings seize up, or it shatters.
The problem is that you are over boosting hugely. You may have done irreversible damage to the engine itself. The turbo is causing it to run extremely lean, which causes preignition and detonation. You must run the highest octane all the time to counter this, and/or install an intercooler.
An intercooler is not meant to give more power, although it does. It is meant to lower the temperature of the intake air after it has been heated greatly by the compression of the turbo. By cooling the intake air, it allows for more boost before the engine begins to preignite.
The easiest, cheapest fix is this: Get a higher flow fuel pump (or boost pump) to keep the mixture rich and run high octane fuel. That is without a doubt the cheapest fix, and it will improve performance also.
What you really want to do for the long run is to get a intercooler, so that you dont have to dump fuel into the engine to keep it from preigniting. Since intercoolers are retardedly expensive, running a longer pipe from the turbo to the intake will lower temperatures greatly for much less. You could actually get a splitter and run two pipes and then another splitter at the intake to rejoin them, which would increase surface area and slow down the velocity of the air to allow more heat to escape. It would take no more than an hour to braze the parts together.
Q: What is your experience of Audi dealers?
I find them to be exspensive and mostly unhelpful when I need something for my TT Roadster.
They know that for some parts you have to use them, and boy can they charge you for it?
A: Audi dealers absolutely SUCK!! There are 3 local to me, NONE of which are 1. Helpful to someone working on their own vehicle instead of bringing it to them. 2. Knowledgeable about the particular systems or components of the car. (if its not in a sales brochure, they are clueless) While that's enough right there, the cars themselves are problematic and overly complex, I just can't understand why anyone in the world would buy an Audi.
Q: German cars in Canada???
We are looking to move to Canada (Nova Scotia) from the UK. I have a 6 month old Audi TT quatro. Do i take this with me? Are there many German cars in Canada, as i don't want servicing and parts to be a problem... or do i cut my loses and buy a new car when i make the move. Would really like to keep my car, but i am also worried about damage during shipping.. has anyone had any experiences? Many thanks in advance :)
A: I'm from Canada and I can tell you that sometimes shipping a car is more hassle than it's worth. Cars are cheap in Canada compared to the UK and German cars are everywhere. I think your car needs to be 15 years old for you to ship it without paying a huge duty bill. Don't worry, you'll get another German car, no problem. A friend of mine is a Mercedes mechanic in Canada who sells second hand Mercedes and you can get some good deals. Good luck!
Q: Why Do People Think They Need An SUV?
Did I like miss something at some point? I mean how is it that a big fat ugly truck with a luxo interior become a status symbol? The things are scary to drive and as unfun as you can get without driving a school bus around! My last car was more in line with a status car; a fully loaded Audi TT. What total pleasurable driving experience that was and even more so in the snow! Not that a status car means anything to me my current car a Honda Civic EX is a great car!
I've driven people's SUV's before, but the handling is well horrible, and the whole driving experience is what I'd expect for like trying to drag part of my house around town nerve-wracking! I know a couple women who drive them by themselves and the amount of money they throw away on gas to drive those things is just totally insane! Plus every excuse anyone makes for having one, there is always another vehicle that would be much better at it!
I'm a very minimalist person so going from a TT to a Civic doesn't bother me. Having an expensive car has never been a priority in my life. I've done that many times switching up and down. The Civic is fun to drive and appeals to my minimalist mentality of less is better. The TT is a very sophisticated machine with a very advanced AWD system in it and it was a car I loved from an engineering standpoint.
I used to buy all US made cars but stopped buying them back in the 90's, they stopped making anything I wanted anymore and I had too many issues with the quality too. I don't buy what I don't want! Make a better quality US car in a style I like and I'll buy it!
A: It because of the advertising for the Auto Makers to make the public think that SUV's are more safe without realizing that most of them are horrible at handling and are gas suckers. I laugh at all the idiots that drive their SUV's during the first snow shower of the year and find themselves in the ditch....too funny, sad too.
