Q: My 2002 Audi TT Quattro is crunching in 3rd Gear. How do i tell if it's the Synchro or just the gearbox oil?
It doesn't seem to happen when the engine is cold, only when the car is warmed up and when i change gear at higher revs. Anyone had similar problems? How do i tell if it is the Synchro?
A: It's probably not gearbox oil, since your manual gearbox uses your engine oil to lubricate it, so unless your car is low on engine oil, the oil level in your gearbox shouldn't be an issue.
Its probably a synchro especially if it happens at high rev's. If it only happens when your shifting fast, then it's a synchro. It's not a problem if it only happens in that situation it's pretty normal. but if you keep shifting hard at high revs and hear that crunching you'll wreck your synchros.
Q: How does the Audi TT Quattro compare with other cars of its type?
And secondly, what do you think of the cosmetic exterior design of the series?
A: There isn't another competitor with a two door hatchback offering AWD. The Nissan 350Z is performance oriented and offers 300 horsepower, but is rear wheel drive and a real bumpy ride. The Mitsubishi Eclipse GT is front wheel drive with 263 HP, but doesn't have the breaking, handling, or ride of the TT. The Mercedes C-Class Kompressor Coupe hatchback is RWD and discontinued after 2005, and the BMW 318I is RWD and discontinued after 1998.
Check out the new TT for 2008- it has 250 HP AWD with a 0-60 of 5.5-5.7 seconds. Overall the older and redesigned versions look pretty impressive, but they don't vary much in looks or design from a VW Beetle. The quality is just as bad too- Audi enthusiasts will disagree, but check out Forbes, Carfax, or Consumer Guide online and the ratings for mechanical quality are less than stellar. Add to this the 40,000+ price tag and it's a lot of money for a little hatchback.
Have you checked out the new BMW 3 series coupe? For around the same price as a TT quattro you can get a 328 xi with AWD (Xdrive) and a 335xi AWD next fall 2007. The Xdrive is overall not as reliable as the AWD quattro, but the BMW 3 series has better braking/handling, mechanical quality, and resale value. Test drive each and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Q: Is it better to get a 03 Audi TT quattro or a 03 Subaru WRX?
I have the option to buy either one of these cars. Price and mileage is about the same. I was wondering about repair costs, gas mileage, insurance costs and performance? If anyone owns either one of these vehicles, please tell pros and cons.
A: Insurance-WRX is higher.
Maintenance and repair-TT is higher cost.
Both use premium gas.
Audi TT Quattro has 3 engine choices. The 180HP 1.8T engine, the 225HP 1.8T engine and the 3.2L 250HP engine.
Which engine? Can't tell you gas mileage without that info.
Performance-Both handle very good, but the WRX is probably quicker.
Q: Does anyone know where the fuse box for the lighter is in an audi tt quattro?
I lost the owners manual
My lighter is broken in my car and I don't know how to fix it, I assume it's a fuse, but cannot locate it. I have a GPS system and Sirius Radio and cannot use them in my car because the lighter is not working.
A: Check your owners manual.
Q: dose a audi tt quattro only have front brake power or do all 4 wheels brake?
and if they all 4 brake where do i go to find a kit for them
A: O_o All cars have brakes on all four wheels. Now if you mean four wheel DISC brakes then that depends on the year of the car and its really easy to find out. Look at your rear tires if the brake assembly looks just like the front then you have four wheel disc brakes if not then you have drums in the back.
Q: Audi TT QUATTRO (225)?
Is there any different between the :
1999 AUDI TT QUATTRO (225 BHP) and the
2001 AUDI TT QUATTRO (225 BHP)
A: only some slight trim diferances as the 2001 tt was fece lifted. differant grill and alloy selections that sort of thing. but the older tt is lower road tax as the tax is done on engine size not imitions before 2001. check it out on parkers tax guide.
Q: Audi TT 2001 Quattro 37k Blk/Baseball all options for 13500 Good Deal?
one owner Quattro TT 22hp Blk/Baseball. He wants 13500. Are these a maintenance nightmare? What shuld I look for? Am I better off with an M Roadster?
A: Audi does not have the best maintenance records, an M roadster would be good, Hondas are also good for a used car. You can always go to kbb.com to check car values and ratings for maintenance and other important things.
Q: What engine oil does anyone recommend using for the Audi TT 225 Quattro ????
A: Mobil 1
Q: I own a 2000 Audi TT quattro, my instrumental panel is not working?
Sometimes the instrumental panel works and then it goes off again, one mechanic told me that the cluster is bad, but in my oppinion its just some loose wire or connection, if the cluster was bad it wouldn't come on at all, but it does sometimes. If anybody has or had the same problem I would appriciate the help, thanks.
A: TT instrument panels are known for this a firm called BBA will recondition one for you.At www.bba-reman.com
Q: audi tt quattro. 2.0? or 1.8?
are the tt quattro's a 2.0L engine or are they 1.8L. i was told the AWD tt is a 2.0 and the FWD is a 1.8. true? how can you tell the difference between a 1.8L and a 2.0L. the only way my dad will co-sign for a loan is if it is a 2.0. he says everyone has problems with a 1.8.
A: The 1999-2006 Audi TT comes with a base 1.8L turbocharged 180HP engine. You can get this with Quattro AWD if you want and it also came in FWD. It also came with a 3.2L VR6 engine with 250HP, which only came in Quattro.
The 2007-2009 Audi TT comes with a 2.0L turbocharged engine with 200HP. It also comes with a 3.2L VR6 250HP engine, which only comes with Quattro AWD.
Both engines offer manual and automatic transmissions.
The 1.8L is very reliable. It was used in the VW GTI, VW Jetta, VW Beetle Turbo, VW Passat, Audi A4, and Audi A3.
Audi's and VW's have reliable engines, but they get electrical problems like fuses and light bulbs burning out quickly. But they are all cheap fixes.
Q: When was the Audi TT Quattro available in America? The 225 HP model with all wheel drive.?
A: Both the Coupe and Roadster 225HP Quattro were first introduced in the USA in 2001.
Q: Audi TT (180) Quattro are they good and reliable?
Probably going to get a 1998-2001 model as this is more affordable but are they a good car? I have my heart set on one badly. Any common problems? I have been told they are good on petrol for the tyoe of car, any other advice helpful.
Also where else can you find them from I am constantly looking on eBay and auto trader but they are thousands of miles away. How do I look more locally for one without trapcing the country?
A: Audi as a whole are decent motors. Friend had a TT as you're looking at - used almost 5 litres of oil between every service though.Main dealer ( whether Audi or not, they're all the same) rubbished his claim, basically calling him a liar. Choose your car well but choose the dealer better.
Q: Does anyone have the original booklet regarding the scheduled maintenance for a 2001 Audi TT 225 Quattro?
A: Contact a dealer they have all the answers.......
Q: Audi TT Quattro vs. BMW M Roadster (1999-2002)?
What's the way to go. Want a great handling 2 seat convertible. Needs to be under 20K with less than 80K miles. This will be a secnd car.
A: A BMW M Roadster is SWEET! It is a little smaller, but performance wise, you get A LOT more. A regular TT is kind of slow.
Q: 2007 Audi TT quattro or 2007 BMW Z4 3.0 Si?
A: i personally like the Audi TT better than the Z3. the TT mk1 was very reliable and therefore i would assume the MK2 will also be and from a design point of view i think the TT is much better looking.
