Q: Sould I buy a used Audi TT convertible and what should I pay for it?
Are they good cars? Reliable? Expensive to fix? 2 wheel or all wheel drive?
OR should I get a used Honda S2000?
The only cars I've really owned were 3 4runners (1987, 1989, 1999) with almost no problems or $$$ spent and I sold them all for more than I paid for them :)
A: Honda's are just as expensive to fix when they break as any thing else out there. Audi's usually only break from owner neglect or refusal to adhere to maintenance schedules. Occasionally, all manufactures have design or production flaws. The Audi TT is an engineering marvel. It isn't for everybody, maybe, but I would rather be in the Audi in a crash than nearly anything else. Read NHTSA crash test and recall lists. Audi does VERY, VERY WELL. Their 4 wheel drive system is probably the envy of the automotive industry for it's effectiveness and low add-on weight. Usually the only costs here are for tires and brake pads. My motto is that the only thing better than an Audi is a used Audi or one that can be bought at discount.

Q: I'm buying a used Audi TT soft top convertable. Wanted to know if maintaing it hard.?
I really don't know anything about cars. I want to know if the soft top is ok when it rains and snows. Also, does it get colder inside of the car during winter time. Finally, do I need to do anything to extra to maintain the soft top, such as cleaning and do I need to put anything on there to keep it clean. I would like to know everything about buying a soft top convertable. Thank you.

Q: Does anyone recommends buying a used AUDI TT?
I am trying to get one, need your expertise!
A: Yes, I worked for audi/vw for 20 years, common problems to watch for are; window regulator cables break, recall on some fuel sending units, center door between seats breaks from elbow hitting it, instrument cluster and radio display some LED display lines go out and you have to buy the cluster or radio which ever is messing up. can get expensive. and mostly change the oil at least every 5000 miles especially on turbo model, engine will gum up and cause lots of headaches if you don't. USE SYNTHETIC OIL OR YOU WILL REGRET IT LATER.
Q: how much will a used audi tt 1.8 cost in 4 years time?
in england
A: Around £16K.
Q: Im trying to decide between a used 2001 audi tt, mazda miata, and subaru impreza wrx. Anyone have advice?
A: Gp for the WRX. Theyre fast, economical. Dont get a miata, my brother has a 2000 miata, its pretty slow, and it eats more than my dads 2001 Outback L.L.Bean. (6 cylinder)
Q: Should I buy a used 2001 Audi TT or a new toyota yaris?
As my only source of transportation....
A: New toyota no questions asked. Parts & maintanance are very pricy for the audi. If it has even near the average mileage for age it will be costing you$$$$$. I have been in auto repair for 20 years ,you have a very clear wise choice here.
Q: looking to buy a used car and choosing between and audi tt, rsx type s, and an is 300. HELP!?
im buying a used car and im choosing between these 3. im mainly looking for performance and looks. whats your opinions on these? and what one would you pick?
A: If the TT is a convertible then do that, if not go with the IS. If you do decide that fuel economy and fun to drive are going to be important (probably should ask yourself that) then go with the RSX.
Q: Audi TT Windows?
I have just bought a used audi tt. When i open the door (either) the window drops a little and then rises again when the door is closed. Why is that?
Also, when driving above 50mph the wind outside can be clearly heard from the drivers window. Does this mean there is a seal failing? Has anyone had the same experience? The car is 4.5 years old.
Are the two related? Both windows move the same amount and apper to return to their fully closed position.
I am thick, of course it is to clear the top seal, man I am thick
A: The window is designed to drop a few millimetres to clear the top seal when you open the door. If it didn't do this it would bind in the top seal. It may be the car has had the door glass replaced at some time or may just be out of alignment. this would cause the wind noise you describe. Take it to your local Car glass repairer and they should be able to advise you. If your car has a warranty take it back to whom you bought it from and ask them to rectify the fault. Don't go to an Audi dealer as they will charge you an arm and a leg! These windows have several adjustments for alignment.
Q: Can I put regular (lower octane) gas in my audi tt?
I have a 2001 Audi TT (the 225 hp, quattro version) and the manual says that the car takes supreme gasoline. (which is what I've always used up to this point) But with the price of gas getting higher and higher, I'm interested in putting regular unleaded or at least the mid-grade gasoline. If I use regular unleaded in my TT, will it actually cause some kind of damage to the engine, or will is simply affect performance?
A: There is a fair chance that using lower RON ( Octane ) fuel will create pre-ignition ( Pinging , Detonation Etc ) in ANY vehicle that is specified to run on the Hi Octane fuels by the manufacturer.
There WILL certainly be a loss of Power & Performance by using Low Octane fuel & a good chance of worse fuel economy.
I personally would not risk using a lower grade of fuel .
Are the fuel savings going to equal or better the cost of a possible engine replacement or rebuild due to the damage caused ?
Q: can you switch an Audi tt engine with an 01 jetta 1.8t?
im asking because as everyone knows VW uses Audi engines
A: Instead of switching the engine, you could just add the K04 turbo and intercoolers to give power similar to that found on the higher-output 2006 audi TT 225. It actually has a 1.8T, the same as the Jetta. And I think that Audi uses VW engines.
Q: I want to change the rear pads on my Audi TT. Has anyone had trouble depressing brake cylinder?
I'm having trouble derpessing my rear brake cylinder to put my new pads in. Anyone have any suggestions. I was going to use a 'G' clamp but not sure if somethings holding it out.
A: you will require a piston brake wind back tool available at halfords or most decent motor factors.can also do it with a pair of long nose mole grips turning the piston while holding pressure on piston this is a struggle but can be done.(i ve done it this way on many occasions
Q: 2000 Audi TT shut off problem?
I got my hands on a 2000 Audi TT that has been sitting around without use for about a year. When I attempt to turn it on, it stays on for about 4 minutes then the fuel pump stops pumping and the car shuts off. Any Ideas whats the problem?
A: Bad wiring, bad fuel pump, bad fuses...could be any number of problems. Check with your local mechanic shop for details.
Q: I have 2002 Audi TT what kind of transmission oil does it use??
A: G-052-162-A2 ATF Fluid. Only use that
Q: what is a nice car that the insurance company wont charge a lot for?
my parents are willing to buy me a mustang or a used Audi tt but they are concerned that the insurance is rly high. what is a good car that the insurance company wont consider a sports car
A: A good car to own is any car that gets from point A to point B without stopping at the repair shop EVERY payday!!! With so many people worried about shiny paint & SPINNERS to impress their friends, I'LL BE SURE TO WAVE AT YOU WHEN YOU'RE BROKE-DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!! Make the mechanically sound selection and you can wave at those people too!!!!
